rear end wheel camber
rear end wheel camber
I recently had to get new tires, got a flat. When I took the car to get a new tire, thinking I only had minimal wear on the rear tires I noticed that the tred was worn on the inside of the track on both rear tires, had I not gone to change the tires they probably would have blown. The mechanic mentioned wheel camber. Currently am about to lower the car and place damptronics. The question is; will this change and/or should I adjust the suspension to compensate or is this setting normal and should I change it if it is..thanks for the suggestions...
you don't say how many miles, tire brand/compound so it is hard to tell if it is normal or not...incorrect alignment/toe can wear tires a lot faster than camber...stock rear setting should not cause excessive wear if pressures were normal...however, if more than 8k miles most p-cars will show more wear on the inside...when did you last have it serviced? they should have noted the excessive wear...since you just bought new rears you should have the alignment checked by a reputable shop...even the GT3's come from the factory with faulty alignments...if you are going to lower the car save the corner balance and alignment for afterwards...

6k plus miles with new sway bars, otherwise stock; will have allignment done after damptronics and front strut placed. Tire brand were michillins, was serviced less than two weeks prior at champion porsche. Thanks really appreciate your imput..

Toe will wear out a tire faster than camber.
I have my 09 going in on Dec 5th for a track alignment at Vortex in Tampa. They did my last car and I had 10k miles on it when I traded it in and the tires wear in such good shape the Porsche dealer did not even have to change them to resell the car.
I had -1 camber with zero toe up front and -1.8 rear with min .05 toe out rear.

Does it matter where and what equipment is used for the alignment? My mechanic buddy does work for mecedez and I asked him to do the install and alignment, he's the best mechanic I know and I trust him a combination hard to find..
mdrums is correct...I said castor but I meant toe...any good alignment shop can do it...the best alignment I have had was done with simple equipment by a talented shop...
