Anyone getting weak ?

This 997.2 sure looks nice .

I look at my three cars and think.
Turbo --no way ! It stays -FOREVER !!!
The M3 - Eeesh -I just bought it a few months ago . Gf likes it . For now it stays.
Honda Si --Double eesh - it's worry free and the jump to a 997S sounds expensive.

So it's a no go for me at this time .
How about you ?

Anyone looking over his flock of cars and saying maybe it's time ?

I'm still having too much fun enjoying my C4S, but my 98 M3 Sedan will be ready to leave the flock soon. I'm thinking of a Land Rover LR3 for a DD. Yeah, I know...why not the Cayenne? I'm looking at the certified used market right now and at these prices it seems like a no brainer to go this route...especially in these economic times. The LR3 may not be the prettiest of the RR group, but it certainly is the most utilitarian. I'll be using it for off-roading trips, camping, snowboarding, mountain biking, and more.

But if I were to trade in the 997 C4S, I'll wait for the 998.2 (yes the second generation) Turbo NON-PDK in 2015? Who knows...hopefully Porsche will stay true to its roots and keep the 911 the way it is, but with improvements...essentially keep it a driver's car and not like that Nissan GTR tranny-killer that practically drives itself.

Quite an intersting contrast between the recreational SUV vs a sports coupe .
My NON Porsche recreation is not as opposite spectrum . At one point in the past I even did consider luxury with swimming and jogging being the type of athletic recreation and travel mostly centers around flying and hotel stay -- any car would work so the M3 offered sport and extra seats .

With the auto future so hard ro guess and the 997 being such a successful model line it's tough to see a new one come out without giving it the eye.

Yup, great question Yrrallis1, I have been racking my brain every day thinking if I should wait a bit longer or swap the S for the TT. Also I keep looking at the prices of the CTT's dropping and am thinking of getting rid of the Jeep. Well your points as to why you are staying as sorta mirrors my reasons for staying as is right now. I love my S and my GF is happy with her Jeep

When I found a 12 month old, pristine '06 manual tranny M3 with CPO warranty and 5400 miles on the odo I thought I'd keep it forever, but since picking up an 09 997.2 I just don't enjoy driving the M3 the way I used to.

When the srtablemate for the M3 was an '05 Boxster S I actually prefered the M3, but the 997.2 is just so freakin' fast (yes, even my base Carrera feels pretty durn fast to me) and the seating position is so much better than the M3 that I have already started contemplating selling the M3 to speed up my ability to pay off the 997.2 so I can buy another Carrera........this time an S with manual tranny.

My base 997.2 with PDK makes the perfect daily driver while an S with mannual tranny would be a killer for a weekend garage queen!

I'd have a tough time justifying selling off a 997.1 to purchase a .2, but I'd say anyone in the market comparing used 997.1 models with 997.2 cars would have a tough decision ahead of them. The .1 cars are bound to become great bargains, but the .2 cars have meaningful improvements.......no doubt about it.

I drive a Cayenne S for my DD. My lease rolls around in June - looking at an FJ Cruiser or another Cayenne. My 997 still gets a lot of attention and affection too.

my club coupe has X51, so it should be as fast as a 6 speed 997.2S. To me, they don't look much different.

Next car will be either next gen GT3, or GT-R spec V.

NOPE!
Having too much fun with the car I have !
With the supercharger 'upgrade',I should (with a bit of luck) keep up to the newer model!
I love the 997.2 but for my needs I am good for now!

Stacy

PS Watched a few shows on the new 997.2,very impressive!

Today was a beautiful day in South Florida for a Sunday drive --80 degrees , sunny on Delray Beach . Along the way on the approx 1 Hr drive I encountered to 997S cabs ( a .1 and .2) --same color side by side . It was on the roard together taht i noticed these minor upgrades and it was so much fun to drive along with these guys for a few exits .

To nicely option and trade in -I figure it will range from 20K to 40K plus the old 997S depending on year and options.

I can see it .

Smile

The 997.2 is THE best modern 911.

When are new 911 discounts so high?

Two good reasons to buy/upgrade.

Well as a guy in his 50's I think the sports cars I have now will be my last go around, though I will keep tweaking them over the years, my wife has a 7 series and in the spring she will be getting a Continental GT. I still have the urge, but with 4 year old twin boys, I have something I enjoy even more than my cars.

Thanks, my boys can spot a Porsche, a Ferrari, a Lambo, and alot more. I'm teaching them well. the truth is, I never thought I'd get married ( had too much fun being single), let alone have kids, I consider myself a lucky man.
