A really lame radio question...

I just picked up a lightly used 2007 C4S. I'm delighted!

Among other fun options, the car has the nav system and bose radio.

Anyway, everytime I turn on the nav system, the radio also comes on. I don't get it! How can I turn the radio off? I can "mute" the sound, or turn it all the way down, but the readout on the tach still tells me what songs are playing. In fact, it seems that every time I get in the car and start it up, the radio comes on.

Turning off the radio by using the left rotary **** seems to turn off the nav display as well.

Any help appreciated!

let me ask you-what happens if turn off the radio, then hit the map button-does radio come on also? how about then hitting the nav button? your question is a good one though.

997 - Nav/Bose

The radio is always on.

997.2 - Nav/Bose

You can turn the radio off or you can mute the volume.

Welcome to the crazy world of the PCM in the 997.1. What I find tricky is trying to adjust the volume of the Nav system, which you can apparently only do when it is trying to talk to you. If it gets accidentally set too low, you have to anticipate when it is going to talk to you and crank up the volume at that time, otherwise all you do is crank up the radio volume which may already be at a high level.
The new PCM in the 997.2 almost makes it worth the cost to buy a new car.

Good suggestions. I tried them and found that hitting nav or map have the same effect of turning on the whole system, including the radio.

I can't recall the details but I changed the volume in mine through the "set" button when in Nav. Did not need the map up or the girl speaking at the time. Didn't need the manual to find it even.....

Actually you can push the "repeat" push button located just above the volume **** for a repeat of the voice NAV instruction and adjust the VOL **** during that instruction for NAV volume. As for radio, it's always on, either muted or volume turned down.

My last 2 Land Rovers have been the same way. You can only adjust the man/woman's voice while they're talking. Weird
