Borla sound clips
Borla sound clips
Thanks for posting the video/sound clip! There is not much sound difference from stock it seems but the sound does seem lower and more puffy sounding as compared the the Fabspeed mufflers I had on my 06 and 07 C2S.
I know the sound of PSE, Tubi and AWE very week because a neighbor has PSE and some good frineds I track with have Tubi and AWE.
Also from comparing your Borla sound clips to other mufflers on youtube the Borla does not produce the bark, growl or bite some other mufflers have but the Borla sounds pretty much stock but deeper.

Mr. B
To me the Borla offers the least amount of exhaust volume and has the lowest frequency sound.
Oh, I am not doubting the system sounds great and sounds stock inside the car. It is nice to have more performance and just a tad bit more exhaust volume. I am just mentioning the sound difference between all these after market 997 mufflers that are on the market.

Oops
I don't think the volume is low from the exterior.

Sounded pretty good in that last clip. Is your battery on it's way out because your car doesn't seem to start up to quickly.

Maybe
Anyway, a couple of months ago my battery died.
I called the Porsche number and they sent a guy out to jump start the car.
I drove directly to Porsche of Arlington and, based on their diagnosis, they put in a new altenator and a new battery. Now, only a couple of months later, it starts like you heard on the video. The car is due for its one year service in February. I plan to have them look at this issue.

Mr B,
Love the sound of your Borla exhaust. It's throatier at idle. Under acceleration it starts to increase pitch. A youtube video of a Cayman under full acceleartion sounded like a F-car - sweet. Do you have any video of cabin sound while driving?
thanks,
bob

Yeah
Yeah, we do have a sound clip from the interior.

I like having probably the only C2S in the U.S.
with this wonderful sound. You can have a conversation in the car at any speed.

i dont know if borla and porsche go together. on vettes and mustangs, they just add an awful boominess, not unlike flowmasters.
if you like it thats fine but i would think most porsche files would prefer a crisp exotic sound like that coming out of a CGT.

if you like it, thats all that really matters
The other thing with the Borla is it uses the standard cats. These are the most restrictive part of the exhaust and replacing them with high-flow 100/200 cell units is where the power is made on these cars. Headers and mufflers on their own give very little gain.
In this regard the Borla is a 'sound only' mod. I would rather spend the money on a full AWE (what I'm running now) or Fabspeed setup and enjoy the (very noticeable) extra power.
If I wanted improved sound whilst keeping the standard cats, then Tubi mufflers and headers make the Borla sound very tame indeed! I've tried the Tubis on my car - best sound you can get for the 997S by a long way and they sound almost stock-quiet, inside the car, whilst cruising. There's just no more power on the table.
Can't really see the point in buying an aftermarket exhaust that gives no power gain when there are several out there that do!
Just my opinion....
