Front Lip Replacement?

Okay, So I've seen a lot of threads about how you can easily replace the Front lip of the 997 for cheap, because it takes so much abuse. However, I haven't found a good website where they sale the front lip for less than a 1000 dollars (even on ebay)? Is that how much it is, or am I looking in the wrong places? Where do you guys buy it from?>

you can't be looking at the front lip...you are looking at the front clip, which is the whole front bumper...the lower spoiler lip is only a little over $100 and you can get them from GMG, TRG and maybe even Suncoast...if you need the front clip then your pricing seems about right except you will have probably have to paint it

997 GT3 Cup Front Splitter
This is a direct replacement motorsport part for all 997 GT3 street cars and 997 cars fitted with factory aero kit. Direct clip in replacement part.

Price: $175.00

* Installation and paint available at our facility, please inquire.

if you don't have the factory aero kit then you need a stock one for a 997 and it should be cheaper...

suncoast link:

http://e-partssales.com/Merchant2/me...ory_Code=997AK

either sponsor should be able to get you the stock lip if that is what you need...you should also try your local dealer

the gt3 lip should be the same as the aero...the gt3 cup lip will stick out a little farther forward but not much lower...if you scrape the aero lip you will definitely scrape the cup lip

The GT3 and Aerokit lips are exactly the same shape/size. The Aerokit one just comes primed and ready for paint while the GT3 lip is black.

Steve,

Is the cup lip with the air openings like the one pictured above available for purchase through Suncoast?

I replaced my Aero kit lip that was painted white with the black GT3 lip. It's very easy to replace and you don't stress out as much when you bottom out with the black GT3 lip since it doesn't show as much. Also, I plan on replacing it every couple of times a year since it's pretty cheap replacement.

We're putting together a group buy for these carbon fiber GT3 front lips:

For some reason I've never scraped mine but either my car is too high off the ground or I'm just really careful. Maybe it's both.

I scrape the bottom of mine at least every third time I drive my car. You must be pretty careful. Have you installed the damptronics yet? If not, your scrape incidence will increase dramatically. I don't think I would enjoy driving my car worrying about wrecking a carbon fiber lip.

That's why I've held off on the springs/coil overs. I think CF lip or no lip I'll probably scrape everywhere I go. So for now I'm going without it. I think it depends on how and where you drive. I avoid places that I think it'll scrape altogether. Maybe that's why I've only put 2,000 miles on it in the last 6 months.

I saw a GT3 Cup car with a lower lip that looked different from the standard GT3 lip. The cup lip was definitely more "rubberized" and flexible. This would be a good thing, I think.
