I'd also be interested in a hack to get rid of that silly lawyer screen when you press map for the first time after starting the car. Sheesh.

I got rid of my lawyer screen in my Touareg by changing the region to Europe. It also effected the AM tuner as NA and European AM radio systems are slightly different.

Affected the AM tuner how? Can you still get AM or is the frequency interval off when scanning, requiring direct input? Was it a dealer programing change (trying to stay away from MCL!)

Thanks.

Thanks.
The tuner is out based on NA Medium Wave Tuning where 10 kHz spacing is used; elsewhere in the world it is 9 kHz. So when I want to listen to the Canucks game on 1040 kHz, I am tuned into 1044 kHz. The results are a little more static and a lot more interference from over head wires downtown. The tradeoff is well worth it IMO, as the VW lawyer screen would come up every time the car was started, not just when you wanted to use the NAV system like it is in the Porsche.

I don't really use AM, so no big deal, but the FM tuning may also be affected, though not as significantly. Any other side affects beyond that (can we set this in our cars?).

I know I tried setting the nave to UK or German, but didn't like the other issues that came with it - such as having distances expressed in meters (for German) and the UK and German inability to properly read out things like "avenue", "place" and "parkway" from standard abbreviations like AVE PL or PKWY. It makes for a jumbled up mess when the computer reads you the 'turn right at...' bit.
