Remote starter on 6spd 997?

Does anyone have an remote stater on a 6spd manual porsche?
My car takes about 15 mins to warm up and i hate keeping the car under 4k RPM's in the morning when all I want to do is rip around!! I mean its probably better for my speeding ticket situation and my neighbors, but I want to be able to hop in my car and its already warmed up! especially in this 20* weather!!

I would assume you have to dissengge the clutch switch on startup, but has anyone ran into any other problems?

I'm more curious as to why it takes your car so long to warm up. I drive mine all year and in the winter, I just start it and drive away. I turn on the seat warmers and within 5 minutes, the car is blowing hot air. Even when we had a couple days when it got below zero, I had no problems. Perhaps you should see if your thermostat needs replacement.

The car blows hot air almost immediatly, im more worried about the engine temp, and the engine heating up. Im in shorts and a T in 10* ... im NEVER cold, my car is... Thats what I ment when I said that I have to drive the car slow for a bit, I dont want to get on it without the oil temp up to operating temp, ya know?

It is not very good for a car engine to just let it idle until it arrives at operating temperature

It is probably impossible to rig a remote starter to a standard shift Porsche. There is an interlock on the starter that requires the clutch to be depressed.

When I bought my car the delivery guy, a 20 year veteran of the marque, was adamant that it was started and driven straight away.

In the old days we used to always start and warm up our cars before driving them but that was a long long time ago in terms of oil development. Back then we tracked our cars and consequently ran 20/50 type oils which were like glue when cold, hence the need to warm up the oil so it would circulate properly and not starve the top end components.

I also heard a different school of though then it comes to engine break in as well...
I was told by a motorcycle mech of 30+ years that he always breaks in his bikes the way he races them, ***** to the wall, bouncing off the redline. He says that if you are going to be using your engine that way most of time time, the rings should be seated like that. You dont want to baby the break in and then go hardcore once everything is seated someone who doesnt get on it. It makes sense to me, but its a new school thought where as in the past it was always 1000 miles before you hit 4500 RPM's then 5000 miles before you use your whole tach. I have also heard that its only the first 100 miles not 1000 miles. so go figure.

aren't we suppose to wait till the RPM goes below 1000. It takes me around 2 min even in winter when it's below zero
