Does yellow bring a lower resale?

Hi everyone,
I've been a lurker of this forum for years now and after a few stints with a Maserati coupe, a BMW and a Merc. I've realized that I still can't get that Porsche fever out of the system.
I have always loved yellow 911's and have found a low miles '07 S for under $60k.
Resale value is really important to me and its the only way I can convince the boss (wife) in this economy to make such a purchase. Do you guys think that yellow would be considered an "off" color or does it fetch the same resale value as say silver/black/grey? The car doesn't have Navi and considered lightly optioned.

It's an off color vs. silver/black/grey. I had an 03 Yellow C4S and had no problem on resale. Mine had yellow seat belts, yellow center console and deviated stitching and was gobbled right up. I think S Florida (or AZ or CA) will still like a hot, flashy color car. It's striking and if you like it..go for it.

I eventually sold it for your same reasons as it was too flashy and unusual after owning it 2 yrs for the "boss"

Sometimes the flashy colors like Yellow, Red, and Blue (Mexico Blue) are a tougher sell in that they require a certain buyer. There is a brand new left over 08 C4S Mexico Blue at the dealer near my house. It has been sitting for almost a year now and is already offered at over 20K under MSRP in order to find a buyer. Although Mexico Blue is a bold color. I guess my answer is that it depends....

Maybe it can bring a higher resale value. Take a look at these pics of a yellow 911. The black wheels, black mirror inserts, and black wheels with yellow trim really make this work.

I think a plain yellow 911 with silver wheels is not going to be as interesting.

I recall a time where yellow cars did post lower asking prices . I could not figure out why. An 07 for under 60K doesn't sound bad at all . How many miles? CPO? Options? That's far more important than the color.

It is interesting how yellow Ferrari's seem to keep their value but some other cars do not.

I personally never liked yellow on a Porsche, but I have seen a few Porsches that looked very nice in yellow.

Crazy, eh?

How about a yellow mercedes?! That will never ever work. No way, no how. I dare anyone to post a pic of a yellow benz that doesn't look ridiculous.

Yellow, Red and other flashy colors usually attract people who are only attracted to those colors. They don't want to buy anything else...I found that these colors can actually bring in more money than the typical silver, black and multitude of grey's that are available.

Try this one.

Benyley Long Island last year had a Continental Gt convertible in fly yellow with a tan interior!

They ordered that car on spec and nearly had to give it away!

I've always been attracted to interesting colors. I even owned a Phoenix yellow M3 cab. which I know was also known as Phoenix 'bile' to some. I got lukcy selling it. The only interested party i had fell in love with it and offered close to my asking.
The Porsche is a relative stripper, has the sport chrono, and the Bose and under10k miles. I'll miss the Nav. and the painted to color interior though. Its an '07 S and private party. What do you guys think?

I think it's tough to find the speed yellow. Some people love... some hate them. It's a matter of taste. I like the unusual colors myself and would absolutely get a speed yellow. Almost bought a speed yellow c2 prior to finding my c4s. My wife was bummed a bit as she absolutely wants a yellow s4 or rs4 (if they ever make another) for her car. Now there won't be 2 yellow cars in the garage. If it passes a PPI and looks clean... go for it. My interlagos blue e46 is an unusual color which gets lots of looks and compliments. A few thinks it looks odd and purplish. To each their own.

Ok I think I located your car . the silly things one does to find amusement .

I'll tell what frightens me with it --this car has just under 10K miles which means he's bright enough to capitalize on mileage sliding through with a non CPO status . Maybe its clean but my suggestion is to have paint inspected and run a full DME scan to detect engine over rev history .

Wife is more interested in doing the bathrooms...yada yada....so there's no way to sweet talk her. I just have to make sure I come out on the other end of the sale not losing too much, so I can keep playing with these toys.
YYralis1, he's in Southern Cali so I'll have to fly down from Az and do all the inspections before hand. Seems like a nice guy but as you say, you never know. It is relatively low in options but I'd say Sport Chrono is the must have. Seems like there's a bunch of speed yellows in Fl. interestingly, but its too far to fly down.
Decisions, decisions.

If it is the car that I speculate --it actually has some impressive aspects too. He optioned it very simple yet took the time to mentioned garaged and clear bra. Either that car is really good or really bad but he's got it together . Probably a multiple Porsche owner . This actually might be agood thing. Keep in mind I am not even sure I got the right car.
MSRP on thar car had to have been in the mid 80's . He's got just unde 10 , and
asking just under 60 .

So I guess further --if he went to trade in that car he probably was offered 48 to 50 but he also would get a tax credit going into a trade so add that into it too. It's not worth it to him to galavant from shop to shop with pesky buyers to make 3K over a
dealership . So what a good price if the car checks out?

That's my next guess . You will not get that car for under 55 . an owner who is that meticulous has a set number in his head .

So here's my guess -- 56.7 will really get him to think and if the car checks out and thmgs click with you both I think it may fly.
