I was backing out to go to class this morning onto a declining driveway. I didn't see the lawn mower there since the angle at which I was looking back blocked it from my sight. This is the first scratch on the car whatsoever ever since I got it, and now I feel like ****. I've been babying it and just waxed it, and is not ruined because of a stupid mistake. If someone could give me an estimated price at which it can be fixed, please tell me. Thank you.

take your time, take a deep breath, and research an awesome body shop! A good shop will be able to make it good as new. It always amazes me what a good shop (as opposed to a mediocre or a bad shop) can do. Hope this helps...

 

How much do you think it will cost?

 

It looks like it didn't hit the 1/4 panel so you are lucky. I would say $400 tops..anymore and I think you are over paying if it's just the bumper cover that got scratched.

in NJ at a good shop, I imagine they could do it for $500. I had a hood done a few years back and it was $300 for a show-quality job. Assuming they charge more for a curvy piece and it is a few years later......
Make sure you get some references...you don't want drips and masking lines!

 

Actually it did hit the quarter panel. Look at the second picture near the top left.

the pics are taken too close to really get a good perspective. how deep mis the gouge? 500-1000 depending on if it needs blending into adjacent panels, maybe cheaper if it can be buffed out.

if its very superficial, buffing may get 80% or better worked out

 

Then if the 1/4 panel has to be resprayed it's going to add quite a bit to the cost of the repair. Is the car a metallic?? If it is they not only have to match the paint but the metallic flake in both size and quantity..that's why the hole 1/4 panel is going to be resprayed and could be half the door as well to blend it...

I had something like this happen to my Lexus - right after I got done detailing it all day, which really bummed me out.

I found a really good body shop about 20 mins from me that works on Porsches, Ferraris, Mercedes, etc and braced myself for the estimate - I was happy to find they only quoted me $500 and a days worth of work.

I dropped it off, and when I picked it up the next day - you could never tell anything ever happened to it - and the total cost was about $550.

So, take the advice people are giving you, do a little research for a good body shop around you and put that scratch in the past! I know I was so happy I did, rather than torture myself about it.

 

I think a light color sand n good buff job can fix that for you. Should be anywhere from $250-$500 tops

 

I was thinking a good sand and buff might do it as well, unless it's scratched all the way through to the primer... sorry to see this.
