Yeah, I remember this. There is a thread about this right after it happened.

 

It shows you that people with money don't necessarily have any common sense.

I could imagine that a Circuit City employee would get the urge to drive a 997 Turbo, it is likely something he will never own.

 

Geez, that's a bit harsh. When I was an undergrad, I sold shoes. In grad school, I worked in an audio store. Sold home and car stereos. Being a geek and learning something about selling and retail turned out to be pretty handy. It might be painting with a very wide brush to assume all CC employees have topped out their personal career ladder.
OTOH, this particular employee was irresponsible. Either the Peter Principle or a budding Bernie Madoff.

 

What? They didn't share any money between them?

 

The article says the car was "worth $185,000". It's hard to get a new 911 turbo up to $185k. Maybe it was a GT2? Or more likely, the author doesn't know what he's writing about.

 

Sorta like those $150 ladies handbags... that car was worth $185k only if it had about $60k worth of cash stored in the trunk.

 

I spec'd out a 997 turbo on Porsche's site. It was over $180K loaded up with goodies.
