Which Short shift kit?

Hey everyone! Which short shift kit would you recommend on a 997 and how is the difference in feeling from stock? If you could share your experiences it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

While pricey, the Porsche OEM SSK is the best choice. It can be installed as a DIY- if I can do it, anyone can. Follow the instructions, take your time, and you will be fine.

Overall, at this point, it's a mod that I insist upon. Had an SSK in my 996 and when I got my 997 it was amongst the first mods I did, and I am happy to that I am using Porsche OEM parts. It shortens the throw a bit, maybe an 1.5 inches in each direction. It may not worth the cost, but as a gift to yourself, it can be justified.

I had the same debate and narrowed it down to B&M or OEM. I ended up going OEM for and love it. It is not a huge reduction in shift length but feels alot more sporty. Not notchy at all and very smooth shifting. It is more $$ though.

I have OE as well and love it. When the car is cold the SSK exaggerates the stiffness when getting into 1st gear, nature of the beast....

You know I heard that too but even my original stock shifter had difficulties getting into first sometimes cold or warm. The new SSK was absolutely no different.

I never had a problem getting into 2nd when cold but sometimes going into 1st is a little notchy. In fact Porsche even states that in their advertising. I found if I bring the gear shift lever slightly towards 2nd before putting into 1st, the notchiness goes away. When warm no issues at all.

B/m

easy choice no need to waste money on this for OEM, simple design, they do the same thing and B/M makes short shift kits, thats why they do.... dare I say it could be better then OEM.

Unless of course you want some added security of Porsche parts warranty then OEM is OK.
