On a 2009, how to get back to the main iPod screen?

Now that my XM subscription has lapsed and I'm seeing if I really want to pay for audio XM beyond the navtraffic, I'm trying the ipod solution.

I've come accross an issue thats bugging me.

When I fire up the car, if its been sitting, the iPod always starts with the same track. Ok fine, thats the top of the order. Ideally, I'd like it to start in 'shuffle' mode by default, but I can deal with setting it too.

So when I first select iPod as the source, the PCM screen with the root menu comes up that has check boxes for "Shuffle" and "Repeat" on it, along with a few other options like playlists.

Now, once I've been listening to the iPod, I don't seem to be able to get BACK to that screen again. There is no 'iPod' hard button on the PCM obviously. The 'info' doesn't provide what I need. So once I've gone over to MAP, lets say, and want to bring back up the root iPod meny to change the shuffle setting, I have not been able to find a way get there, short of changing source to FM, listening to it for a sec, and then changing source back to iPod.

Isn't there a way to get back to the root iPod menu on the PCM without stopping the iPod source playback? If not, there should be.

disc button

As bikerdude mentioned, press the DISC button and it will switch between the CD control page and the iPod one...

I feel as though there is a small glitch in that system...but you do use the disc button for CD's and for IPOD it jogs back and forth when you hit disc.

to answer ur question, use the reverse-arrow looking button on the right of the screen (it's a half-circle arrow that looks like "go back")

That 'back button' doesn't do it..that was one of the first things I tried. It doesn't get me to the screen where I can select/deselect the shuffle mode.

DISC... I'll have to try that. I'm guessing, if I had a memory stick installed, it would as well, it would toggle between all 3?

I'm sure I read it.. I did read the entire set of manuals several months ago, but given how they are written (things mentioned in several places) and how un-intuitive the use of the DISC button to get the iPod main screen up, is... you can understand how one might forget that.

Thanks for the tip.

I think DISC button works for CD, IPOD, USB and AUX. You can't play CD and Ipod at the same time, so you have to go to the source and select the media if you want to change from one to another.
