Cost/benefit of a new bumper

I'm currently calling around a number of reputable body shops on cost to have my front OEM bumper refinished. I have a clear bra on it, so that needs to be stripped. Also, there's some very minor driveway rash on the bottom part of the bumper. In all, I'd like to get it to look brand new again.

So, the phone quotes are in the $900 - $1,000 range. Which, assuming that's fair, maybe worthwhile for me to just get a brand new bumper. Does anyone know of a good place to get the best price for the front bumper? Does this route even make sense? - or should I just stick with re-finishing my existing OEM?

Advise appreciated!

Are you asking about a new bumper that is already painted to match you car? If so, unless bought used, all new bumpers will have to be painted. Unless you are upgrading to a GT3 bumper, I'd just have the original bumper repainted.

Just refinish the one you have. It's only paint and not a big deal.

Chances are the same thing will happen again some time in the future (the driveway rash that is) so a new bumper will end up just like the old one anyway.

Sell the existing bumper on Ebay--$200-$300. Use $$ to offset price and paint on a GT3 bumper.

$900-1000 seems a bit high to only refinish a bumper but not unreasonable. The rear bumper on my c2s was hit and ran on by some idiot. A quality body shop only quoted me about $650-850 to repair and repaint. If I wanted to replace the bumper and paint it was about $1500. Not sure if the front bumper is supposed to cost more though. So what did I do? GT3 style rear bumper.

LOL - thanks! (note to self: should not ask $ related questions in this forum if not prepared to spend 2x + what's originally anticipated.)

Seriously, I would like to get a OEM GT3 front bumper. However, that would also preclude a GT3 wing and rear bumper as well...must resist!!!

no way should a repaint cost $900-1000... even my dealer quoted me less and that's in Canadian dollars

I would keep shopping for better prices/shops

My buddy got quoted for $550 to repair and repaint his rear bumper and he asked for a discount so the body shop came down to $450. I'm planning to use the same body shop to fix the rock chips and repaint my front bumper for about the same price.

Don't resist the urge to get a gt3 front bumper you know it makes the car look so much better with it.
