New to 997S. Help needed.
The car is worth just as much as any other same year, same miles. PCCB and aero, and other options add almost nothing to its value. I would say around $50k in this market. That is if it passes a stringent PPI and shows no Type 2 overrevs, and has no leaks, of course.

CPO is Porsche Certified. Only a dealer issues that on a sale they make. It extends warranty on key (not all) components 2 years or 50k miles.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.
The car is priced too high for those miles and year . Unlike a BMW miles make a different financial price point for that car . As an 06 it's nearing warranty end. Only a dealership can give CPO --not a private party.
This forum is seeing 07 coupe CPO cars sold in the high 50's to low 60's with less than 10K miles . With those miles , year. non CPO status, it's worth in the 40's but I would not buy it because I only would consider a low mi car OR if the car had miles I better know the owner personally.
Repairs can be costly .. what starts out as a car fantasy can become a money pit . Plus cross 50K miles --you are stuck in that car long term --unless you don;t mind losing more money on the way out than had you gone in with more .

I have an 05 997S and so far (knock on wood) it has been flawless. No issues being the first model year. In fact right before the warranty expired I really wanted to bring it to the dealer for something to take advantage of the warranty but couldn't really come up with a reason.
I don't think you need a 4S considering you are in San Diego. Up in L.A., I see a lot of S's but very few 4S's. I think because it's more fun and awd is unnecessary in so cal. It's definitely not because people can't afford the extra few grand.

+1
I bought a 2005 997S Cab two years back. Probably paid too much - far more than they go for now. The economy and all. And I wouldn't vary the car color (white/black) and option preferences (less not more). Didn't purchase it from Porsche dealer and it was not CPO'd. That said, I had a problem, fixed under warranty after I purchased it. I've not heard of it being common to that year or since. Since then really nothing. It's been flawless and it's exceeded my expectations as a truly great drivers car.
I've raved on this forum about my preference for RWD versus AWD. With comments from the Stig and Sharky I feel vindicated. That said, the body style of the AWD platform is pretty cool. But a bad tradeoff.
The one you're looking at looks great. I'd be very happy to have those brakes, though for my usage pattern, they'd be pure hedonism.
GL with the search.

A few things to add (some may have already been said)
You see old style headlights on 05s --- these are C4S's (and obv Turbos and GT3s)
2005 is when the 997 C2S came out....
I owned a 2006 C2S for a bit and logged more miles than most (over 26,000 in 8 months) and had ZERO issues with the car. This use included track time, autoX, road trips (PA to FLA and back) along with lots of spirited driving
I have nothing bad to say about that car.
BUT, that being said, the reason i ditched it for a brand new car was the fear of owning it out of warranty. That scares me as the parts on these cars are not cheap. Something to keep in mind.

I have an early 05 C2S (Dec 04 build). Ordered to specs with lots of options. Leased it for 4 years. My third Porsche I've ordered to specs. My favorite!! AWD detracts from the driving experience in my opinion. Never had a single problem. In Jan of this year, when my lease and warranty were about to expire, couldn't see turning in this car for a new 997. I'm waiting for a 998 (991??). I decided to have the car CPO'd and re-leased it for two more years. The new CPO came with documentation which basically says that I am responsible for normal wear and tear, maintenance items only, and that the CPO will cover any other issues. I've not had any issues since. I have 43K miles on my car. I feel more comfortable leasing a Porsche with high miles, as trying to sell it in two years with > 60k miles may be a challenge.
Don't know if this helps, but I have no problem with early 997's. On the other hand, my early 996 was in the shop many times with minor issues.
