Antenna on a 05 997 S

Looking at a used 997 C2S and I noticed it has an ugly antenna sticking out on the top of the rear windshield. Looks like something from a Jetta. The car has nav and I don't think sat but any idea on what that antenna is and more importantly if there is an aftermarket replacement that looks nicer

Thank you

External antenna is an option....not sure why someone would want it though.

+1, it is a no charge option. No idea why any one would order it.

You need to remove the headliner, fill the hole, repaint the roof, and install a windshield that has a built in antenna.

Not worth it IMO.

I replaced my Prius roof antenna with a body-colored shark-fin antenna - like you see on newer BMW's. Much better looking than a whip antenna, though the reception isn't quite as cool. I assume you could do the same here. But yea, no more Jack-in-the-box heads...

Wow so the person who ordered that car opted for a roof mounted whip antenna...strange.

Yeah wonder if I remove it, buy a sat radio, read the threads on how to integrate that into the BOSE and affix the sat antenna in its place
