Windshield sun shield

I have a black C4s and when I take it to work it has to park in the sun. What brand of sunshield do you guys recommend that will save my dash and interior temperatures?

I use the ones that you can twist to fold, not the card board ones. Specifically, the ones that I use I got free from Embry Riddle Aeronautical College.

I've tried several and the one that works best is HeatShield - perfect fit and significant heat reduction. The flat 'harmonium' hard ones look nicer but they are a pain to use and do not work as well.

Does PCNA still have an OEM sun shield for the 997? Is it easy to install, or do you have to contort it to go around the rearview mirror?

I use a fitted roll up padded sunshield. It very nice, but it fails the easy to use test. And the easier to use, the more likely I'll use it. I'd get a twist to fold one. They're super simple and easy to doff and don.

I use the Porsche 996 sun shield. It will fit, but it isn't quite right where it meets the rear view mirror. Not a big problem as it will slide down between the dash and the windshield and that holds it pretty well. It is pretty cool looking too, and it comes in a nice Porsche sleeve that I lay across the folded down back seats.

Thanks guys, I will probably go buy the OEM sunshield and then have the windows tinted. Anyone know what the best tint is out there for the UV protection as well as keeping the temperatures down?

I have the same one from my previous 996 and it works just fine in my new 997.2!! And +1 on the Porsche sleeve/case that it comes in - it looks great laying in the back!

I have been using these sunshades on our last 3 cars with great happiness. They are very similar to the OEM BMW ones which we used on our prior BMWs and loved (which are folding hard covers) that are suited to the car.

Check out www.automotion.com for OEM sunshield options.
Definitely use something if your black car sits in the sun on a daily basis. The heat and the sun will damage your leather dash...
