Accident after a week

I've only owned my 997 for a week and it's already been in an accident. A guy behind me rear-ended me when a woman slammed into the back of his car. So far it looks like only the left bumperette is damaged, but I'll be taking it to the dealer next week in order have a closer examination done. There is no visible damage to the actual bumper cover. What are the chances that there's structural damage underneath?

I would find it hard to believe that there is any kind of mechanical / underlying structural damage without any cosmetic damage. Of course, a closer inspection would be necessary to determine for sure, but I think you're fine. Glad to see you're ok tho.

An inspection will reveal any frame damage. The most important issue is your well-being. Good thing you weren't injured. The bumper can be fixed like new from a reputable shop. Good luck!

I agree, they can take a hell of a hard hit in the back. I was rear ended in my first 997C2S (almost 2 years ago) by a fully loaded garbage truck. There was extensive damage to the car but the outside was moderate damage. By the time the car was repaired the total bill was $30000 to fix the car.

Wow. That sucks. Were you driving in rush hour traffic? Just curious.

It was around noon time when I got rear-ended. Yes, it does bother me knowing that my car has been bumped in the back, but like many have said the most important thing is that nobody got hurt, including the lady who caused the accident and her granddaughter who as in the car with her.

Actually its a blessing. Now you have that 'first ding' experience out of the way and can relax and just drive the car more carefree.
