Front license plate - bracket?

Yes, blasphemous, but I'm in NY and need to have a front plate. Is there a bracket that is sold or how is the front plate attached to the front bumper? Thanks!

Not at all. In many markets (like Australia!) front plates have always been mandatory and in fact to me a car looks somehow unfinished without one.

Anyway, as our cars come with the bracket attached I'd assume it's a factory part. Very neat and tidy.

I've seen a bracket and it seems to simply screw into the bumper. Is that the factory alternative?

I have a tow-hook license plate mount that I use occasionally.
I wouldn't want to use the tow-hook solution as a permanent mount because it doesn't look quite right. Obviously, it's well off to the side, and is not parallel to the bumper (it faces the viewer straight on).

So for daily use, I think the tow-hook mount is actually more distracting and looks worse than screwing the plate straight into the bumper.

Have you actually been pulled over for no front plate yet?

Chuck - thanks for the lead on the tow hook bracket. Seems like the best solution for anyone with a virgin bumper with no holes.
Haven't gotten pulled over yet, but I know the cops in my particular home town and they are very vigilant.
