Multi func wheel swap?

Im real close to takin the plunge on an 09 w/ all the options I want-(Xm,NAV,Bluetooth) except the multifunction wheel. Dealer is quoting around $2k for an otherwise $700 factory option.

Any other options?

Also, car has classic wheels & Im thinking of upgrading. What are these worth as tke offs?

TIA

Parts are about $1K or so, unless they are not planning to use (or cannot reuse) your airbag module - that adds another $1K.

I'm having mine done today - supposed to be ~$950 for parts and ~$300 - even that sounds a little high. From what I have read, it might not be so hard to DIY. Someone posted their dealer did it in 1/2 hour while they watched.

I'm having voice added too though and it seemed like something that would be good done all at once, so I'm letting the dealer do it - hope I'm not sorry.

Are you getting standard wheel with triangular bag? If so, Aaron at Suncoast should be able to get you the parts for $500-600. EASY to install. Dealer will have to code PCM.

That's exactly what I did. They simply swapped the wheel with another car and charged me the regular factory option price.

Guess it comes down to the individual dealer. If you havent already done so maybe you should go back to them and negotiate.

It has the round wheel, still negotiating for the swap.

Thanks for the numbers.

Yeah, you gotta have a standard triangular bay for it to be just a parts job. Worst case, just buy with round, buy a complete wheel used, add MF controls from Suncoast, and sell your round one. Will come out WAY under $2k! That's what I did.

Should be a round MF Wheel for it for around $900 and you just keep your airbag - that's the case for PDK anyway.
