Function Panel Oddity
Didn't have to open it up - the kit came with the tiny wires with micro connectors at the end: the connectors slid into the stock plastic connector (which is designed to come apart for this very purpose - quite thoughtful those Porsche engineers) that plugs into the button strip. I just cut the other ends off (that were intended to connect into the stock wiring harness) and connected them to my latching circuit board.
There is no intellegence at all in the button strip: each button is a momentary normally open connection with its own pin out, and the LEDS each also have their own pin out (when connected to ground they light up). There is a 12v bus runnning along the strip to each button and LED. Press the button and one pin goes to 12v while you press it. Ground the right pin and the LED lights up while grounded. The DME normally controls everything that happens.
Ummm, when you typed the words "**** obsession" didn't any alarm bells go off???
Cheers!
