175 Miles So Far... My fingers are crossed!

I now have 175 miles on my 1 week old 09 C2S PDK. I really like this car!

The car runs great but both exhaust pipes are sooty! After reading all the posts about sooty pipes I am obviously a little concerned.

The good news is that I have checked the oil twice and it's still full.

I have been taking a middle of the road approach so far on break in. Not too easy and not too aggressive, loading the engine and then doing a lot of engine braking, followed by a cool down.

I just don't get the soot thing. I know that the dealer who I purchased the car from filled the tank with Hess premium before I picked up the car. I prefer Chevron or Shell, I wonder if that would make any kind of difference.

Anyone else with sooty pipes who has not used any oil yet?

The soot is no more unusual than the soot my on 2006 E55. My 09'C4S has 2500 miles and I love driving it. However I did have 2 problems 2 months ago; a defective fuel injector and a defective PASM module.

175 miles in a week looks to me like a lot of short trips, the worst type of usage for these types of engines...

No, I was careful not to take short trips.

Each trip was at least 20 miles with the motor reaching full operating temp, and with oil temp reaching around 200.

The A/C was on also to add a little load. With the temp here in South Florida of around 90+ degrees the car warms up quickly.

I have a little soot on the tailpipes that appears between washing. Added 1.5 quarts total the first 4500 miles. Had the oil changed at 4500 miles. Now at 7200 miles and the gauge still shows 3 bars full

Dec 08 build, picked up the car mid January 09.
