Question Help me understand? Chrono Package

Hey guys, as I'm learning about my new car, I wanted to understand Sport Chrono Plus package, I read that It modifies the engine management characteristics and the control behavior of the PSM and PASM systems, makes the car faster/more responsive......... So on my C4S (6 Speed), I don't have Chrono Package, so I'm I missing out? Is my car slower compared to a C4S with the Chrono Package?

Thanks

The sport chrono isn't just a guage. It doesn't change horsepower or torque but it does offer a different throttle response and it also changes the PSM setting to "medium" as opposed to being either on or off .

Like what Yyralis1 said, SC remaps throttle response, basically making the gas pedal response "front loaded" but still achieving the same output at full throttle compared to a car sans SC. So, yes the car with SC is more responsive/faster at slighter relative throttle inputs, however, no faster overall.

I like the option on all 911s (With SC comes the ugly dash board wart) however, the only ones that I would really call it a must have are: 997TT and 997 PDK; and these cars are MUST HAVE SC.

On a 6 speed you really are not missing much....the less constricting PSM with the Sport button on at the track might be nice or just turn PSM off at the track like most do.

Sport Chrono PLus with PDK is a must have though because it unlocks other features for PDK.

+1

The only thing I like about S/C is the light at night.

You ar not missing much not having Sports Chrono with a 6-speed. With the PDK transmission, it is a MUST since it will yield much more performance alternatives.

Great that makes sense. Thanks!
So now the question is how do I make this puppy faster (beside getting a turbocharger), I recently installed GIAC ECU which was no bueno, I noticed zero difference, so I returned it. I've heard intake/plenum don't do much either...... Any thoughts??

Supercharger or 200 cell cats. That's just about it as far as bolt-ons are concerned.

Wow sounds pretty nice, a bit loud? My car already sounds loud with the sport exhaust option, I also unplugged the wire sensor, so its always loud
How much power would you expect from the 200 cell? Is it pretty loud when just cruising around town??

There are still 2 settings ("on" and "off") for PASM with the Sport Chrono Package. The SC Package simply makes the "on" setting to slightly stiffer suspension than without the SC. Is my understanding correct?

Also, is Sport Chrono Package different from Sport Chrono Plus Package? Is PSM different from PASM (see original post)?

Thanks,
Jim

A good exhaust system (headers, 200-cell cats, mufflers) will give about 25-30 BHP on these cars, sharpen-up the throttle response and sound amazing. You do notice a distinct improvement in performance in the mid range and over 6000rpm, the engine just flies up to the red line.
