Could this be? 997TT in Fall of 2005?

I just read the article comparing the 997S to the C6 Corvette Z51 in the current, December 2004 Automobile Mag. There was a final remark stating that the staff was anxiously looking forward to the Z06 and 997TT comparison within the next few months. Could they be hinting that the 997TT is closer to realization than I expected?

There is already talk of the Z06 specs of 7.0L 500HP+, cf hood and fenders and a debut mid-next year.

If the 2006 997TT is out by Fall 2005, I would be delighted to own a Porsche Turbo again.
All previous indications were showing a 2006 Fall debut. Any thoughts or further insights?

I highly doubt the TT will be coming up in the Fall of 2005. The cabriolet will be introduced in mid-late spring 2005 according to a friend who has one on order, I don't expect to see the 997TT here until at least one year after the Cabriolet is released.

Maybe Porsche will be planning more proactively to compete in the market place today rather than follow their consistent and historic timeline of new model intros. The 2006 Z06 will be here in the following model year of the 2005 C6 intro. As I mentioned before, perfect timing for Porsche to compete with the 2006 997TT! -Wishful thinking imposed as well

I sort of agree with RU
do not think that on the 997 the time gap between models will be that large since the 996 engine and drvetrain platform is used in large as a basis...
The 04 GT2 already has 480 bhp so all porsche needs is maybe to break the 500 mark for the new 997TT (probably an X50 later with even more )
I CAN'T WAIT!!

I dont know where I read that the new turbo will have 460hp in base trim. I was hoping Porsche would come out with a little more than this but I am sure they will make it work. Porsches always slow claim was 4.0 to 60 which is .2 secs faster than they rated the 996TT when it came out. I am sure the X50 will push 500hp. I was hoping for about 500 for the base and 530+ for the X50 but I dont think it is going ot happen

Any earlier timeline would very much surprise me.

I think the intro intervals will be much shortened for the 997 series due to recognition of the changed sports/performance market of the past 5 years .

I still believe MY06 from the hints and remarks from several sources. The autocar article even remarks about a 2005 UK release by no later than this time next year. It would truly benefit Porsche sales to do so as well since they would end-up following the competition while possibly falling short if it takes until late 2006 for a 460HP MY07 997TT. I hope for at least the 500HP+ club along with the proven, stellar baseline handling!
