Bilstein: Only option with PASM ?

I'm looking for a PASM compatible suspension for my 997 C2S...

For what i understand, the only option is (was) Bilstein PSS9 Damptronic coilover...

But it looks very difficult to buy, is it discontinued ?

You can run H&R springs or Eibach springs..most other manafacturers just rebox either of those manafacturers with their name on it. I would go with the Eibachs as they lower the car less than an inch which I feel would be more PASM compatable. The H&Rs lower the car more than an inch and some feel this is to much and can cause premature failure with the H&Rs, although there are quite a few on this board that have this setup with no ill side effects. As far as any full C/O setups that will still use the PASM there isn't one that I know other than the Bilstein.

As I understand it, the PSS10 replaced the PSS9 for cars without active suspension. The Damptronics are used for cars with active suspension. So just look for Bilstein Damptronics for a 997S. Call Bilstein or one of the after-market shops (like GMG).

Yep, the Damptronics are still available, popular and the only PASM-compatible coilover I'm aware of. Really love the set I bought for my car. I think I got them from AWE, but they are available from a number of vendors.

Ok so if i understand correctly, the PSS10 Damptronics version is not out yet, only PSS9 Damptronics.. ?

..or the damptronics is simply called "PSS Damptronics"

The last statement is correct. Many people call them PSS10 Damptronics, but that is a misnomer apparently. They are just Damptronics for the PASM cars.

I would also vote for the Eibachs. Used them on 2 of my M3s. Too bad there is not a good option for the dampers. Not sure how the springs would run on the non sport setting, might be pretty bouncy. I would trade a straight adjustable shock like a Koni for the PASM system any day.

With the Eibachs or the H&Rs you don't have to change out your struts. With the Eibachs they only lower the car less than an inch, closer to 15mm for cars with PASM. This doesn't upset the valving to much like the H&Rs do as they lower the car over 1" which can start to cause valving issues as you are losing 1" of suspension travel. Thats why I like the Eibacs over the H&Rs. With the Damptronics the struts are valved for the loss of suspension travel but you can keep close to the OEM ride height with the Damptronics.

If you are looking to retain the functionality of PASM, Damptronics is the way to go. We are running a special for 6speed users as we speak. In stock and ready to ship. Please pm me.

With the Damptronics, the ride harshness is somewhere between Regular setting and Sport Mode. With the Sport Mode on, it's quite harsher than the OEM Sport Mode.

What it has in terms of harshness, it more than makes it up for less bounciness, less squatting during acceleration and braking, and less body roll. The car just feels more planted in corners and transitional lane changes. The front end is less floaty in corners as well. In my experiences.
