Picked these up from fellow 6speedonliner last week and installed them today. I pulled the rear bumper to make access easier, and it helped a lot. It would have been easier if the flanges had studs like the factory cats, since the bolts I purchased need to have a wrench on the back side to tighten the nuts, and there isn't a lot of room in there. Had to pull the air box to allow O2 sensor wires to be moved sufficiently to reach the new positions.

I love the sound of the cats with my PSE mufflers and X51 headers. With PSE in quiet mode, the sound is just a little deeper but not too noticeable until higher revs. But with PSE in loud position, the car barks nicely.

Yep, after adding hydraulic oil (which appears to be normal on many of that model before first use). It didn't leak/creep at all for the whole day, unlike my old one that would drop about an inch every 10 minutes.

Anyone know of where I can get short jackstands, under 12"?

 

It is hard to tell if difference is real or imagined so far, but will see after a few days of normal driving. I did it more for the sound than the power.

You will see a nice HP improvement, particularly on an "S" car. Drive it like you stole it for 50-100 miles. For even greater sound add an EVOMS CAI.

The bumper probably took me over a half hour since it was my first time. I had hoped to do it without taking wheels off, but had to remove them to get at screw up in fender well. In hindsight, it would have been awkward getting in there if the wheels were on anyway. I took off the bumper without a helper and had no problem getting it off the car. Had to remove the air box to gain some slack in the O2 sensor wires. Oh yeah, there is LOTS of room for a SC. Riiggghhht.

Oops, the bumper is back on already. Too late!

 

Congrats man! Can we get a sound clip? I have PSE and X51 headers as well, I was wondering how the AWE cats sounded with this combination

Is it really safe for 997 to lift it like this at this center spot below engine? I`ve read it is not really advised.

 

I've never found clips to be very helpful. All I can say is that it isn't that noticeable a difference in quiet PSE mode, although a little throatier, and a little louder when under full throttle and at higher RPMs. I like this, since it doesn't sound like a boy-racer when driven calmly. The biggest difference is in loud PSE mode, where it barks more, and much more at heavier throttle and higher RPMs. A great combo IMO.
Today I found that it seemed like the car was pulling a little more than before, most noticeably in 4th gear. Perhaps more torque?

 

I got my PSE set to the Loud mode, the OEM was too quiet for my taste But I don't want the car to shout out too much!
