Tubi vs PSE

I know variations of this question has been asked before but my question is pretty simple: How does the Tubi exhaust (without changing headers, etc) compare with the PSE on a 997.1S? I always have the PSE on and still feels it's a little tame esp at WOT- definitely would like something a little more aggressive sounding! Thanks-

Instead of changing the mufflers, install Cats! Everybody says that the most amount of HP from an exhaust system is gained from Cats. Plus it gives you more sound.

I have PSE on my car, I had the cables unplugged so the car is running loud all the time I also got X51 Headers installed, best bang for the buck!

I am considering getting AWE cats installed...

Highflows cats will certainly make the acoustics of your vehicle much more pleasant and loud =) however during our testing we saw only a 2-5 hp increase over stock when we installed highflow cats. This is the reason why Tubi did not make cats for the 997 ( pre DFI cars ).

You will very happy with either Tubi Mufflers or the Cargraphic export mufflers. Thats pretty much all we sell these days

Please pm me for details. In regards to the AWE product line, they do make a very nice header for the 997. We use to run them on our old shop 997.

Really, only 5hp gain? It is not even worth it then... Ugh... I'm really disappointed

Why does everyone say that Cats give you the most HP then? I don't get it...

Are you say that the tubi mufflers + cats would only make 2-5 hp? or HFC's themselves only produce 2-5hp?

Cargraphic is claiming 10 hp in their website, what AWE claims something completely different... The mechanic in the dealership has AWE full system, he says the cats would do quite a difference

Im speaking of the HJS cats themselves. I ran them all our car however as I said before they make more sound then power. I cant lie, the sound of the car was truly amazing. The cats had a large part in this.

I think it would be logical in any discussions about what any part would do exactly in terms of HP increases to think about system as a whole - I posted my results where I have done new dyno and it shows 25-40 horses gains across whole 3600-7300 rpm range, but that assumes all bottlenecks in intake-exhaust system were removed and ECU was adjusted to be able to use whole new bandwidth.

None of claimed hp gains on parts is cumulative. It is essentially just a bunch of pipes - any single tight spot, single narrow pipe will choke whole pipeline.

Did you do back to back dyno runs ( on the same day with the same weather conditions and use the same correction factors) with and without your exhaust system? Also in your HP claims, are you referring to crank HP or WHP???

see attached.

weather conditions were actually quite almost exactly same - 72 degrees yesterday, 75 degrees on 08/03, similar humidity, same fan configuration and same dyno. I was not really inclined to do more than that, even this one was done mostly out of curiosity. just wanted to know where did my money went to.

as it was mustang dyno i just multiply results by 1.1593 to get in line with dynojet.

All the rest is in the eye of beholder. it is not a scientific experiment, just my car.

Be aware that Tubi mufflers are designed to be used with the stock cats, not sport cats. I haven't heard it myself, but from what I understand, tubi mufflers + sport cats = horrible sound.

We use tried AWE Headers, AWE cats and Tubi mufflers on our old 997 and the acoustics were stellar. The sound was pure insanity ( in a good way )
