Tubi vs PSE
Interesting. I love the way my tubis sound, but often wish for more volume and a little more raw sound. Maybe I should try this...

Highflows cats will certainly make the acoustics of your vehicle much more pleasant
and loud =) however during our testing we saw only a 2-5 hp
increase over stock when we installed highflow cats. This is the reason why Tubi did not make cats for the 997 ( pre DFI cars ).
You will very happy with either Tubi Mufflers or the Cargraphic export mufflers. Thats pretty much all we sell these days

Please pm me for details. In regards to the AWE product line, they do make a very nice header for the 997. We use to run them on our old shop 997.

I hate to quote myself, but I need to state that I am now running the exact configuration that I said a few months ago had heard sounds horrible. It sounds awesome actually. Kinda a combo between tubi and PSE, but louder.
On road, you couldn't hear a passenger, or the engine, or the sirens of all the local police who'd immediately latched on to you!

Trust me on this one - just don't go there unless you only want to use your car for a couple of minutes a week and don't mind a hell of a lot of very negative attention.
The Tubis are already quite loud with the standard cats - in fact this combo is possibly the best sounding all-rounder for the 997S. If you add equal-length headers too, then you'll get an even crisper, more 'tuned' sound than with the stock header.
Apart from the subjective change, my car also showed a very healthy measured increase at the wheels when fitted with a full AWE system and BMC-F1 filter panel. The dyno runs before fitment averaged 304 wheel HP. After installation the runs were less consistent (possibly the ECU adapting, but also due to some temp variation) and were between 326 and 331 wheel HP. (The highest result was first, followed by the lowest, then a run of 328 that I'd assume is representative). This was on a very expensive Bosch dyno at one of the most renowned tuners in the UK.
I know there are a lot of other people on here who have had similar results. Why yours were different I'm not sure, but they are directly at odds with my own experience and those of others.
I had this combo on my car for less than 10 minutes - the volume was deafening, just blipping the throttle in the shop made all conversation impossible and the quality of sound was like a 1950's tractor with a bloody great big hole in the exhaust.

For the 3234234234th time (I may be rounding), the ONLY (did I say only) reason for getting an aftermarket exhaust is sound. 2,3,5,8 HP (etc) is so miniscule I'll bet my car NO ONE can determine the difference - and the people who say "my car breathes better" (since when does your car have sleep apnea) is human's way of justifying spending 5K on something.
That being said - industry standard for exhaust these days is Tubi and Cargraphic. There is a consensus on this. I've had both and prefer Tubi, but would be very happy with Cargraphic.
Oh, and yes you get what you pay for like MOST things in life.
Sorry for the lecture.

Sound, both tone and volume, is subjective. You ran this combo for 10 minutes, and took it off since you didn't like it. I've been running it for over 5 months, and love it. Although maybe the difference here is that I am running the Fabspeed X-Pipe sport cats, instead of the AWE cats. I know the x-pipe does change the acoustics somewhat; maybe that is the difference here.
