Turning TPMS off?

Installed my winter tires and wheels today, and of course the rims do not have TPMS. Does anyone know how to turn the idiot lights off? Manual is no help.

09 Carrera Cab

TIA

I believe it can't be done. Other option is to buy 4 TPMS sensors for your winter tires. I found mine in classifieds here.

It can be turned off if you have Durametric (I believe it needs to be professional edition) or you can go to a dealer and ask them to deactivate it for you (usually for a fee).

I just bought the Durametric (enthusiast version) and started to play with it. I don't believe the version included with the unit (V5) can do it, but I downloaded the V6 beta and it had a lot more features. Check the web site, or if you'd like, I can take a closer look tomorrow.

This was a pain in the GT3 community when the 997s came out. We had to go
to the dealer and have it disabled for a hundred bucks. I dont know about this
new diagnostic tool you all are talking about. I am guessing it hooks up to the
OBDII port?

Yes, it does and has a significant set of PIWIS-like diagnostic, test and management functions. Quite remarkable actually. Check out durametric.com and see their V6 beta page. I'm completely sold. But I'm a geek

I don't think it can be done. Your dealer might be able to, but they probably wouldn't because of liability concerns.

Thanks guys. Follow on question

Thanks. I assume the stealer will be happy to charge to do this.

Anyone have any directions for removing the instrument pod so i can remove the warning light. I knew how to do this in my Boxster, but can't see how to do this in the 997.

You're right, it cannot be done with the enthusiast version, but most likely it can with the pro version (hence I mentioned professional version in my previous post). I remember Scott Slauson from Softronic confirming this in the other forum, but I may be wrong

Hello All,

The TPMS can be taken out of any Porsche with it and requires either a PIWIS tester or Durametric 6.0 with a Professional cable. The Enthusiast version can look at much more info with 6.0 than 5.0 however it cant change any code. The professional can make code changes. I have given Durametric info on how to change many of these items.

Quickly the TPMS CU or also known as RDK is located behind the plastic paneling and below the brake res. in the front trunk. Disconnect this unit by unplugging it. I would suggest in keeping the CU in place for a quick re-connect if required.

Next go to the Gateway Coding with the PIWIS tester or Durametric Professional and code the TPMS from "Installed " to "Not Installed".

Cycle the key and it should be eliminated, if not disconnect the bat for 30 sec and re-connect.

The TPMS is also in the cluster however it is not required to Code this as well.

Best Regards,
Scott Slauson
