sports chrono plus and PSE
sports chrono plus and PSE
Hope y'all can help me out with this PSE question. I've order a 4s with sports chrono plus and PSE. There is a button to turn on the PSE and am wondering if it remains on unless you turn it off or do you have to turn it on everytime. If you do have to turn it on everytime is there a mod I can preform like the one i did On my 996 4s where I clipped a connection on a module to keep the PSE on all the time, otherwise it didn't come on unless you were above a certain rpm. Thanks, Doug

However, to get the sport throttle maps you still have to push the button unless you opt for a third party software flash. Personally I like the option to turn it on and off, but I do prefer it on.
When I had my 996 C4S, I had the PSE and it used to be "on" by default every time the car was turned on. One had to turn it "off" after the fact if one wanted to have it quiet.
For me, the ideal setup on my 997 S would be to have PSE "on" by default with the ability to be turned "off" (maybe on a separate switch), independent of the sport button if I only want the PSE on. Of course, the ability for the PSE to turn on with the Sport button should not be taken away but should be a second way of engaging PSE. The Sport button should not automatically turn the shocks to the stiffer setting because I love to use the aggressive throttle maps and the PSE together but not the harder suspension setting on everyday driving, though one can put them back to soft by pressing the button once more (somehow I just want to drive my car without having to do something akin to a check list prior to flying an aircraft). To summarize it, I think Porsche could have done a little better in offering us more ways to customize our cars. Just because one doesn't want to turn Sport "on" doesn't mean one doesn't want to hear the PSE. One thing shouldn't be tied to the other.
What I did on my engine compartment is to disengage the electrical connection to the PSE and left it in place gently so it looks as if it's still connected. I get the PSE all the time regardless of wether Sport is "on" or not. The only problem would be if I wanted PSE off, which I cannot do this way, but don't care since I ordered PSE to hear it, not to silence it.

Exactly what I did. I also left it on top of the switch so it looks connected even though it isn't.
Thanks for you thoughts
I agree with having it disconnected. I'd be most grateful to see a picture of where and how you disengaged the electrical connection to the PSE. Thanks so much for the info guys, Doug

Ir you look at the upper right hand side you will see the Grey switch connect.on mine there is a cable running to it with an orange end just push down on the clamp and pop off.
Sound? I have the sport chrono plus and pasm. Keep the car in sport mode and stiff shocks all the time. What do you mean by sound, the exhaust not changes in sport?
EDIT: The nice thing about SCP is the ability to change the throttle map with the touch of a button, whereas without the third party stuff is always on.

You will not get the more aggressive throttle map without SCP. However, some opt to use third party software to achieve the same effect. SCP is also better for resale value.

Plus third party stuff tunes car into 93 octane gas, stock car is tuned into 91.
For casual driving around town there is no need for it to respond aggressively, plus you get better gas mileage. Where did you hear that stock was tuned for 91? This is not true, the car comes with an adaptive ECU that is designed for 93 but will adapt to 91.
