Prices about to plummet?

I have been shopping to get back into a p car for a couple of months and I am astounded at how prices are dropping as of the last few weeks. One dealer told me that there are tons of 09's still sitting at the dock (lot's of PDK's). I was offered a used 09 C4S with PDK, meteor/stone, heavily optioned, with 300 miles on it for 82, MSRP 113. It was a porsche dealer too.

They just pulled the 10k support fo 09's but I am sure they are going to put in a whopper soon- and it will cascade to the used car market. What are others seeing? Should I pull the trigger now or wait it out another month?

Dealers offer a lot on those cars with PDK but without sport chrono as educated folks do not buy them usually. Still, $82K is a lot of money - I mean, be wise what you spend it on. As of next month - who knows, but it is unlikely you`ll get like 10% more compared to current discount.

Sounds like a great deal - my local dealer offered me a 2008 911 with $20,000 off sticker and I though that this is pretty good for Porsche, but your deal is smoking ....

Is there a reason why you should not but it without sports chrono? Thought the pdk in itself was worth it?

Obie1, I am in the same boat as you. Have gotten incredible deals but a neighbor of mine who goes to Manheim auction every other week says the prices will not go up until spring on these high end sports cars and that dec-jan will possibly see better deals. Especially people coming out of leases in the pre-owned market.
But then again, if you see a car optioned the way you like now , is it foolish to pass up....??

You get a lot more options with SC - 6 driving modes versus 2. And an ugly bump on the dash.

It's like any other option - you have to a) like it and b) think it is worth the money. But I think most would agree that SC with PDK is very desirable. It also allows for more personalized car settings through the PCM - so it is more like a package; Chrono Clock - Dash/Inst Cluster function/PCM counters, PDK Program selections, and Car personalization.

Many folks have claimed 20% off 09's, so 08's should be discounted at least 30% by now. In fact, with the good discounts available on 09's, why even look at a "new" 08 unless hugely discounted.

I do not have PDK but from what was wrote here by PDK owners - SC option is pretty much a must have as it gives you additional PDK programs to choose from and driving in sport or sport plus PDK modes is actually what PDK is really great for.

I wouldn't touch a PDK w/o SC. Sport Chrono evens benefits a manual car as it front loads the throttle input, which I prefer. For me any Carrera, aside from a GT3 (GT3's do not benefit from SC like a manual C2 or C2S does), would have to have Sport Chrono. With that said, any PDK or any turbo (absolutely stupid that PAG doesn't make it standard on a turbo, but that's anther story) car makes it an absolute must have!

Oh, and, yes it is ugly, but it is what it is.

I agree - and went for a 2006 with warranty for 50% off new price ...

yep, for manual you can get ECU flash to get SC on all the time but for PDK...

perhaps it may worth asking if dealer can retrofit SC later. but most likely not as it probably needs different new front panel.

I pulled the trigger 2 Fridays ago during the $10k plan and bought my new 09'S for $79,800 w/ a Sticker of $99,400. Now is the time to buy and search the internet for the deals that show 20% off 09's as leverage. It works!

Buying PDK without Sports Chrono would hurt your eventual resale because there are features for the PDK transmission that are only available with the Sports Chrono and are desirable enough to put buyers off if it's not in the car.

I alwys understood 'chrono' part of SC option - but what is that 'sport' part? Is it a piggyback ECU on top of regular ECU?

I hope it is not just a switch to a regular ECU, is it? Where do all those additional PDK programs and timing maps come from? Does regular ECU have all that from the beginning?

How is SC option built, excluding this stupid clock in the center of dashboard?

Are you sure Porsche pulled the Incentive on the 09s? I spoke to my dealership and they said it's extended till the end of this month?
