Rock chip repair

I got a little rock chip on my front bumper and was wondering if it can be repaired without a respray. What do you guys think about paint touch up, I really don't want to spend 500 bucks repainting.

I was just reading up on this product called Dr. Colorchip. Search for that on the forums and if you try it out, post pics!

You might consider the AutoSharp paint pens that can be purchased from AutoVisuals (see autovisuals.com). The company offers a clear coat pen, as well as pens for Porsche paint codes. Spray paints are offered, too. I haven't used these, but I've heard that they work very well.

Just to add on to my previous post, I found some threads here on 6speed where people used the Colorchip with good results.

Colorchip is good but it works better on metal than the plastic in a bumper IMO.

That's good to know. Sounds like you have some experience with it. How well does their paint match up? Pics if you have any?

I used it on an old blue bimmer I use to have. Sorry no pixs.

It did a very good job. And the paint match is quite good.

Follow the instructions and start with one or two small chips to get some practice.

Why do you think it does not work so well on the plastic bumper?

If the product works for you, please let us know! I have a small chip that can use a touch-up as well...

I have dr colorchip and used it on a few spots. It is pretty good but I wouldn't expect perfection. You can still see it in the sunlight. If you are not a perfectionist it should be fine. I never used the paint pen.

My dealer and I am sure most dealers have someone who specializes in small touch up.

I will let them do it, because I don't sem to have the touch for this in DIY mode.

I don't think...I know.

I've tried in on hood rock chips and it works fairly well. On the bumper the paint does not stick as well and even after long drying times the sealer still removes some of the pain in the chip.

I have no problem paying a professional to fix it if it comes out much better that way. Do you guys have experience with that? I just don't want to give my car to some guy and get it back with overspray all over my car.
