Does anyone have a 2010 6 speed w/heated mf sport wheel?

I am looking to order such a wheel in black leather and I was told that I need an actual existing car to base my order on.

As always, thanks for any help.

Crazy - I just recently received an MF heated wheel for my PDK car - took a few months to get it, but ordering it from my dealer was no big deal.

Maybe talk to Suncoast - they probably know what they are doing and can also save you some money. My PDK MF Heated Sport Wheel was about $1200 in ATL - I'm sure Suncoast can meet or most likely beat that.

If not, PM me, and I'll ask my ATL parts guys about it.

Hi Steve,

Ironic. I ordered a mf sport heated wheel in black for a 6 speed at a dealer that had a 2010 on the lot in October so that I could use that VIn for reference, and guess what came in 7 days later....your wheel the PDK version of what I wanted. So they took it back. Now that my local dealer's PET is updated they're going to try to order it for me. Spoke to Suncoast, and I'm better off with the local dealer it seems since SC didn't have any info. on this wheel 3 weeks ago.

It will get done in time, I just have to learn to relax my time expectations. But it was annoying to get the wrong wheel, after explaining it several times, referencing an actual car at the dealer when the order was taken and THEN when I asked the parts guy to confirm with a visual (open the box) before he shipped it to my local dealer, he said, "yep, it's what you wanted"

Thanks Steve. I'll post pics when its all done.

Regards,
David

So does the 6spd MF sports heated wheel come in the 'thicker wheel' variant?

I love the thicker sports wheel ... and would not mind adding the MF components... after all its just dead plastic in the space that could be used for something..

Does the 6spd variant also come with the flat bottom?

Voila

Okay, found a VIN and put the order in. Scheduled to ship from the motherland on week 48 (end of this month).

This is the wheel without the multifunction. It has the quasi-flat bottom and a thicker diameter as well as the 10 n 2 humps.

Wish me luck this time around...

Would also be interested in MF thicker sports wheel non-heated? But, curious to know how the dealer does this if you don't have MF wheel - running wires, etc. I saw a cost someone posted earlier on the cost of the wheel, but what about the cost to install?

The wiring is apparently already there - at least on the .2 cars - nothing more complex than taking the old one off and putting the new one on according to my service guys when they did it.

They do make a non-heated version - that's what they shipped to me originally, in error.

As for thickness, I don't think there is any option for thicker on the sports wheel - it is the thick wheel (by PAG standards). The Techart and http://dctms.com/ wheels that some have shown on this forum look a bit thicker and nicer.

Is this true for all .2 cars (ROW)?

I'm ordering a new C4 PDK soon, it comes with the 3 spoke sport wheel (PDK) as standard, however what I really want is the new paddle shifter wheel as seen on 2010 turbos (option) but apparently not yet available for Australia. The normal "button" shifter PDK multifuntion wheel is an 1500AUD option, is it worth it? Or should I wait for when the paddle shifter wheel (with M/F) becomes available in AUS and retro fit it?

If someone can confirm that the wiring is already there, it'd be much easier to retrofit. What about programing?

So you're trying to add a heated steering wheel? And I assume your car currently doesn't have that option? Let me know, there is a control unit which you will probably need, not sure if it's a retrofit though. Let me know.

When I ordered my 09, there were options for the sports wheel, and the thicker sports wheel. I ordered the ticker sports wheel, which is just fantastic.

I'd like to add heated whee, multifunction, with the flat bottom (what I wanted initially on the 09 that was only available on the PDK cars, and I've got a stick). However, if it means giving up the ticker wheel for the normal sports wheel... then I'll probably stick with what I have.

Looking at the configurator while the heated 3spoke sports, and multi-function 3 spoke sports are now independantly selectable, there doesn't appear to be a choice for 'thicker 3 spoke sports' anymore. Does this mean they gave up on one or the other (thick or thin)? I guess I'll have to make a trip to the dealership and sit in some to get my hands on a 6 spd heated multifunction wheel and see what it feels like.

So I take it that ordering the part from Porsche isn't a matter of 'reconfiguring' your own car.. telling them "here is my VIN and I'd like this car to now come with these options.. send me the bits to make that happen".... but rather finding a car that has the part and supplying that VIN?

I think this item http://www.e-partssales.com/miva/mer...97GEN2PDKKnobs
answered my own question! An 200USD upgrade or pay 1500AUD from the factory?

This kit adds the multi-function controls to your stock steering wheel. It allows direct access to the main audio, telephone and navigation functions. Comes complete, just replace the stock wheel faceplate with this upgraded version. Requires dealer activation, only fits vehicles with PDK transmissions (2009-2010).
I think this confirms that all PDKs are pre equiped with wirngs that controls the PCM!
