Pre Delivery "Service" Question
Pre Delivery "Service" Question
Does anyone know what is the standard practice for Porsche dealers when it comes to pre delivery "service'
What I mean is stuff like this:
1 - do they reset the "Service Due" setting prior to delivery in order to start the clock ticking based on delivery date, not on dealer receipt date.
2 - Check for any related service bulletins, computer (flash) updates, recalls ... and perform required updates just prior to delivery to customer.
Seems to me that some dealers do this, while some others do not, thus causing a trip to the service department to just reset and/or clear a waring message and or fixing an issue by just updating some software.

Maybe they should, but mine didn't - just came up with that message after only 7 mos. I took it in and they cleared it - or moved it out or whatever. No big deal really.

But I have a related question... I bought a 2009 that was sitting on the floor for 9-10 months prior to me purchasing. Should I be concerned about getting the oil changed earlier considering the oil is roughly a year old now (even though it wasn't driven)?
My dealer did this.

I changed my oil @ 2K as a precaution post break-in, plus for the same reason you mentioned above about it sitting on the dealer lot for so long. Cost me $70 in parts to do it myself and gives me peace of mind.
Currently only have 1,000 miles, but I still think I am going to change it based on the age of the oil.
