clear bra installers in central NJ

Hi, I'm new to this forum (and to Porsches for that matter). I just picked up my 2010 C2 (arctic silver) and already the sound of pebbles and salt hitting the front end are driving me nuts with worry - I plan on driving this car every day through anything shy of >3 in of snow. I've been reading all the posts here and have started to lean towards going with ventureshield but only see 2 installers near me (1) clearbranj and (2) armortec neither of whom have many review on them. Has anyone used either of these guys or anyone else for ventureshield in central NJ? THANKS!

The guy from Armortech is a master! His name is Reno and he did my 997.2S a week after I got it. He uses ventureshield and it comes in a pre-cut kit. The guy spent 8 hours in my garage working everything from the A-pillar forward. The bumper was very hard to do, but came out perfect. It has been a year since then and all is well. I compared his work with a few of my friends cars and he seems to be in the upper echelon. He also drove all the way to hunterdon county to do the work and charged me a paltry 30 bucks for the extra distance. It didn't even cover his gas expenses! His prices were 1/3rd the dealers fee too.

the only place to go, Top of the Line Tint, uses 3m which is what you want in our weather conditions, from my understanding venturesheild is great for those guys out on the west coast with warm winters. Google the place and speak with Phil, tell him Danny with the turbo sent you, as I was just there. By the way they are located in Lodi, off of 46

Just curious, what makes you think 3M is better in cold weather.
It is the first time i have heard anyone assert that

I spoke to Top of the Line and they said the same thing to me. I'm still not sure who to go with. It's all starting to seem like a Coke vs. Pepsi argument, albeit where one of those costs 3x the other! I am still waiting to hear back from Armortec. Anyone else care to put their 2c in on central jersey clear bra installers?

You can also check Angies list for reviews of the Stores. i have gotten some good reference from them. I think you have to subscribe though

I am pretty sure that the 3m is thicker and has more 'orange peel' on the surface. My dealer showed me one and it looked good but was obviously visible. I went with the venture product because it is closer to invisible and it can go around complex corners well. But, I have been driving my car all winter and the film looks perfect. I am not sure why they would differ in regards to climate....

At this point, I am ok with not having a "full custom job"....I just want to make sure the isntaller I pick has more than 1 positive review.

I hear you there. When I was trying to decide, I just Googled "armortec" and "ventureshield". I got to a few forums and they all gave the guy good reviews. The one link takes you to a corvette forum where the owner posted some close up pics. There was another guy on the 350Z forum who said the same and showed pics. When I called reno, he quoted me a price that I could not refuse.

At this point I'm going to see wait until the spring and make a decision. The car prob won't get driven that much over the next few weeks anyway since all I seem to have time for these days is work. After that if I still care that much maybe ill splurge for the "custom" job as I plan on keeping this car forever.

My installer told me 3M bought ventureshield anyhow, that VS is now a 3m product.

I would suggest finding someone who wraps the edges rather than using a precut kit. The edges look much better and you won't get product build up.

just a note on the venture kit. It does edge-wrap the hood, wheel wells and all of the bumper except where it meets the hood. (can't really wrap there anyway) The mirrors are not edge-wrapped either. I went with the precut kit because I don't want anyone cutting on my car, and some of the "wraps" I have seen have problems with pulling up and need to be cut anyway. I can't say that anyone knows the car is clearbra covered, unless they see it at an oblique angle with the sun shining. Then, you can see a small texture to the product. Ventureshield is also thinner than 3m and is less noticeable.

I should post some pics of my car now that I am at the 1 Year mark! Maybe after the superbowl!!
