Thumbs down Not 2 but FOUR holes were drilled into my front bumper to mount the front plate

I bought the car with a dealer plate mounted on front. I assumed only two holes were drilled.. I was very wrong.

Sorry to hear. All I can say is bumper plugs (www.bumperplugs.com) or switch out to a GT3 front (I assume you have the standard front bumper).

Sorry to hear that. I tell them "no holes, no dealer logos". Yikes.

Great excuse to keep the front plate mounted... just trying to give you a "positive" way to look at it. The fines have gone way up as of Jan. and I'm due to be hit with a fix-it (3 months without one now). I think you are going to start seeing more P-cars with front plates than not pretty soon.

Yeah, when it was $25 it wasn't bad, but now at $178 (see this thread) I start feeling a little bit sick every time I see a LEO. Almost as much as a speeding ticket (1-15 mph over is $214, can be reduced but no one has said to what)!!!!!!

The first 2 997's that I bought each had 4 holes in the front bumper. The dim-wits that installed the front plates (likely dealers) used excessively long screws to hold down the top of the plate on the mounting frame, so that the screws went right through into the bumper. On one of the cars, they even managed to mount the the plate about 3" off center.

Tow hook front plate option

I ordered a front plate holder that uses a bolt that screws into the circular tow hook hole on the front of the pcar bumper. Takes a couple minutes to install, leaves no marks or screw holes required. I bought it from a member of this forum, Rolf, it was very well priced and I received it very quickly. I ordered it ahead of my car getting delivered to me here in Canada from the US, that way I had something to attach the front plate to as soon as i got it registered. They are very strict, IMO, in Vancouver, and will constantly enforce if no plate noticed.
Anyone not familiar with this or interested, search the forum using tow hook plate and you will find the details.

Did the same. There are a number of vendors who make these and aside from the off-center look, it does save the bumper if you don't already have holes.

I suppose if the plate is already mounted, it covers the holes, so it really is a non issue unless you are selling the car to someone from a state without a front plate requirement.

I must admit, most cars look horrid with front plates, but pcars look the worst. when my pops got his cayenne turbo back in 2006, we told the dealer u better not put a plate on it, we told them just leave the bracket in the trunk.

I just got my 2006 911S and it had a plate braket on the front, took it off, 4 Holes, booo, so bumperplugs.com and ordered two sets, looks way better now, till I get my GT3 bumper

All you "Front Plate State" owners need to band together and cite the fact that a front plate causes a reduction in aerodynamics & thus lowers the fuel mileage. Major University studies show this is a cause for global warming. Proof is the fact California is getting rain this winter and the 19 states that do not require an official front license plate, set all time records for winter low temperatures.

I just bought some plastic plugs at the autopart store and painted them the body color. 80% fix for ten bucks.
