Replacing C2S rear fenders with C4S fenders
Replacing C2S rear fenders with C4S fenders
Has anybody replaced C2S rear fenders with C4S fenders? The car has some rear damage and the right rear needs body work and paint. I was thinking it might be a good opportunity to get the wide look I have always liked. The car is a 997. Is the suspension the same?
looking at the body panels, it looks like it would be a very expensive job. Would likely be cheaper to trade into a C4 model. Everyone loves the wide-body look, and I imagine we would've seen a wide-body C2 by now if it were economical (at least I've never seen one).
I had one rear fender replaced on my first C2S, it was about 40 hours of labour to Re+Re it, plus parts and painting. I would imagine that it would cost a lot more then most are willing to spend.
There is no way in hell I would get my rear fenders replaced unless I had a bad accident!!!
They have to cut the original fender of, weld the new one in, then sand it and paint it... It is a long process, plus the curves are really hard to work with.

As other have said, replacing the fenders would not be worth the $$$ IMHO, but you could definitely get creative with some flares or pull out your stock fenders. Any body-shop worth their salt could add some inches that rear end. Fiberglass is another option. Here's a link for a few more radical options.
