997.1 TT vs. 997.2 C4S PDK ....
Would love to know if anyone with a 997.2 PDK car has ever raced a 997.1 Twin Turbo? Has there been a comparison between these two cars? Would love to know if the newer technology could keep up with the higher horsepower 997.1 TT.
A 997.1 Gt3 RS will beat a 997.2 C4S PDK. (straight line)
look at how it matches up against a Turbo.

I was trying to decide between a new 997.2 C4S and a 997.1 Turbo (CPO). The C4S was perfect... until I drove the turbo. The difference in power is astonishing. Driving the turbo is like surfing an endless wave of torque. You can probably guess which one I bought.

Here's another .
In a straight line a Lp560 as well as a Scud can take a C4S . In fact the Gt2 will edge out a stock Turbo but it is close. All of thse cars are very quick.
Take a look at 1 minute 50 seconds as the Lambo driver looks over to see what caught up .

The Turbo is the king of straight line speed, but don't let anyone fool you, it is no slouch in the turns either. It is just as nimble, and more fun to drive (to me) compared to a 7.2 C4S PDK, making the comparison between the 2 pointless.
IMO, a used GT3 or RS would be something to compare against a used Turbo, not a 7.2 PDK. Performance wise, it's simply 2 different classes of cars.

The TT is an incredibly impressive car on paper. I haven't driven one in a long time but I suspect it is much better in the corners (as I've been repeatedly told in the last year or two) than a lot of the stated commentary.
It's the C4S that is the corner case. Somewhat deprecated steering feel with no more power. I don't even buy that it's substantially better in foul better. AWD doesn't much help you stop the car.
If they built a GT2 that really was a step up from the GT3 RS (and not a sidestep as the .1 series car seemed to be) that would have to be the king of the hill. But I'd rather feel every pebble through the steering wheel than have the best 0-60 speed so a GT3 RS would be my top choice for now.
But the TT should never be considered a bad choice.

It may not help you that much in stopping - but in accelerating and turning, it's a world of difference. AWD keeps the front wheels turning all of the time - when the wheels are turning, the car can be steered. When the front wheels stop turning (snow, ice, hydroplaning on water, whatever) the wheels stop steering. I live in the mountains of Southern California (6200 ft. up) and I have driven 2WD / 4WD / AWD cars extensively under winter conditions from mild to extreme. When I finally had the chance to buy a Porsche for my year round DD, my only firm requirement was AWD (I ended up with a '06 C4S). If you don't plan on driving in rain, snow, etc., than AWD may not be for you, but for my needs I love it.

Never raced a 997.1 TT at the drag but have seen some run low 12's at @ 118-119...just for comparison I have run a best of 12.2 @114...so the 997.2 has comparable times but down on mph (which correlates to its' 95 less hp). What gives the 997.2 S its low et is the pdk with lauch control

Modified brings the car to a new level. In fact the Evoms 700 brings the Turbo lag down to almost make the car feel normally aspirated . The acceleration is linear and quite seamless . It's like Popeye after he ate spinach .. most can not compete .. other turbos can depending on the driver skill and level of tuning parts . Some cars which cost a lot more might compete as well but bang for the buck -- a modded Turbo is king.
I Think the 997.1 TT is SO powerful that the C4S would always lose. In fact its slower than the C2S PDK. The 997.1 RS and GT3 and the C2S PDK are all very close in 0-60 and I would bet some crazy driver with the C2S PDK and Launch control could take a RS or GT3 in a 0-60 race. C&D got 3.8 out of the C2S in 0-60. The C2S is faster than the 996 GT3 and the 993 TT.
Great cars all of them.

In 2009 I had a chance to purchase a 997.1 TT or 997.2 C4S PDK. I choose the car with the newer technology. I new that the turbo would be a faster car but I think for street driving the PDK would keep up, and in straight line driving it wouldn't be far off in the 1/4 mile. If you look at this:

You will see a C2S PDK keep up with a 500 hp Gallardo. Not bad for a car that is less 120 hp. I think that if this race was done from a stand still the PDK would have done even better!

I have a 997S and a Turbo . Both are modded. There's no comparison.
Comparing a stock c2S with a stock Turbo the Turbo will have some lag it it can still break 4 seconds to 60 and once it hits 3rd gear it's bye bye.
