Thinking of blacking out my car
#17
I have to say, I got a little chuckle about your advise about what women like. Been sporting the black look with a red Carrera graphic about 2 years and I think it gives the car an "old school" look. Like the cars from the 70" and 80's. The black wheels are a "Porsche" thing and it goes back to Fuchs with black centers. I loved the 80's black cars with the black Fuchs. If you did not notice, the black'ed out car's here have stock Porsche wheels (19"). The 20 inch wheels you speak of have those big chrome lips . Different look..
2) I was not commenting on anyone in particular's car on the thread . i simply voiced an opinion about black out cars .
3) 20 inch wheels in any color alters performance .
4) I do know a lot of folks who agree that a "classic" black look is appealing. Smoked out windows and tail lights seem to be more of a modern trend though.
5) I also agree that (as you stated) "ts just paint on the wheels and tint on the windows."
I love black cars (I have three). There are many would would never buy a black car and I can understand that.
However - even the slightest detail can change perception by creating a very different appearance with a car.
When it comes down to thse things it's really a matter of personal taste. to each his own.

Certainly blacking out a car is not for everyone. As previously stated, one can always "un-black" the car if they get tired of it, or if it draws too much attention from the cops.
For me, I love the look -- pin stripe and all. If I grow tired of it, I can powder coat the wheels to stock, and pull the tint.
I think this also depends on geography. Where I live, blacked out cars are rare. I understand in some parts of the country they're everywhere. So that may be a factor for your decision.

Speaking from someone that has had a number of blacked out cars...
Blacked out is Played out. It's over. Not cool anymore. Lame.... You can't even see your wheels in photos.
Be original, be unique. Get an exhaust, nice lightweight wheels. Don't do something you'll regret. But whatever you do, don't go to 20's.
And please I don't mean to hurt anyones feelings. It's all a matter of your own personal taste. This is just my opinion coming from someone who knows what's in.

Obviously the original poster cares, that's why he asked. Not everyone has to jump on your bandwagon. As I stated in my post I didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings. I didn't mean to offend you.

Matt,
You should get the windows done, but I wouldn't do the tails... If anything, Porsche has a new clear tail light setup that is on the Sport Classic. That would be a unique look. Matte black HRE's or Champion RF67's would look sweet....
