PS2 are coming out with a N2. It is out now but only through your Porsche dealer. Tire Rack does not have it yet. I hate how this supply is controlled but that is the way it is.

We are a funny group.....Opinions are like (XXX XXXXX) Navels!

I'm a big fan of the PS2's and had needed 305's for a upcoming DE. Tire Rack said they are backordered until mid/ late - July.

Tire Rack suggested the Pirelli P Zero's as a quick and available alternative.

Opinion (on a track): They stick well but wear fast, looking like they need to be replaced after 2 sessions (before noon!). Granted, very aggressive driving.

This observation was made by several other drivers questioning why I was driving on such "old" tires. They were shocked when I told them they were 3 weeks old.

I am talking about street driving. For the track I use Toyo RA1's or R888's....race compund tires.

It all depends on what you are using them for. What is your driving usage that the PS2s are awful?

For my everyday driving (not autox, track, high perf cornering work), I've got no problem with the PS2s (granted they were the factory fitment).

For me, along with performance in dry, is the need for performance (ie stopping control) in wet, highway noise, longevity. Its a balance. I spend more time driving very rough concrete interstate/highway/roads in a straight line than I do needing a highly predictable hard cornering tire.

Do you shave the RA1's, and if so, how much? What kind of tire life do you see? I had a new set on the car for Fontana (shaved to 4/32) - great performance, but worn away after the weekend. I have a set of Hoosier R6's I'm going to try in two weeks - I'm getting the GT3 lower front arms installed tomorrow so that I can get a bit more camber...

Very good point.

We all have very different ideals of how we use our tires.
Track Only? Occasional track otherwise daily driver? Daily Driver/ Aggressive? Daily Driver/ Pamper? Occasional Driver/ Pamper? Pamper?

We could start a subforum on Tire Preference for (insert any above mentioned group)...:

I'm with you on that one. I am primarily looking for a tire that can handle very aggressive driving on the streets and can occasionally be put to work during autox. We should have tire preference sections to discuss in further detail. For my uses, I find the PS2 terrific.

I shaved them to 5/32. At full tread the are like driving on marshmellows...so it takes too many track days to wear them down so you can't feel the tread moving around. I just a 1 day on Saturday so I will see how long they last but I put around 175 tracks on them and they do show some wear but I did not take them off the car yet.

Yep...absolutly! I might try RE11's for the street when I need new tires however my PS2 are waering very well. 12k miles on my 09 so far and I'd say about 8k of those miles are street...the other is track miles on my track tires.

Hope this helps
