1 day old, slammed and 20's

Can there be a camp in the middle? I just ask because I think I (and a few other I know) fall in the middle.
My car has a GT3 front, Rinspeed rear bumper, TechArt side skirts, and red seat belts. These are all cosmetic mods.
My car also has a plenum and full AWE exhaust (headers, cats, and mufflers). These are for performance (and some could say for the sound as well but I believe many would call this a performance mod).
Finally, my car also has HRE P40's and a small 15mm drop with TechArt springs. These last two mods could be both considered cosmetic and performance.
Those are great mods, !
and ur car looks beautiful.. and i bet it sounds intoxicating !
few more mods for u and ur wallet : softronic ecu flash, evo or fabspeed CAI, smarTop, and Rennline pedals

Thanks for reminding me of how else I can empty the piggybank. I did forget to add but I do have the SmarTop and that one is probably a whole new category unto itself. Not cosmetics and not performance. Convenience category perhaps?

Of course there's always a middle and you are in it.

for tracking, u might wanna consider getting some lightweight 18's... not 20's slammed.

Holy crap, that is slammed. No wonder there was so much interest on this thread. I thought it was Photochopped at first.
The look is hot - I've never seen a 911 front that low. How you would manage that as a DD pretty much escapes me. Let us know if you are riding on the bump stops - probably impossible to tell because you can only see with the car on the ground. No suspension, effectively. You don't use the springs anymore, the suspension is the bump stops with the dampners. If you install the aerokit, you might get 3" of spoiler clearance. Heck, I scrape regularly with stock ride height! Does look cool, but that ride has got to be rough. Without suspension, you add a lot of stress to the mounting points. I haven't heard of it on Porsches, but BMW's have had plenty of cracked shock towers from this kind of setup.

Changing the performance level of a car or even the aesthetics boils down to personal taste . The issue I have with his changes are that the appearance contradicts performance. It questions the safety with the suspension being so low , the 20 inch wheels are NOT suited for optimal performance, and having a Targa and making it look like a race car is in itself contradictory.
So what he has done is use performance mods to actually inhibit peformance. It's like an endurance athlete that smokes . It's like Eliot Spitzer hiring an escort . It's the hypocrisy of creating an image built on a weak foundation --for what .. to look cool? To atttract women? To affirm ego? What is the reasoning? ? If it appeals to him but not to others why would he care?
He posted it in an open forum and just with any car he will get some who love it and others who don't but in the light of the magnitide of the change will also come the range of views about doing this to a car that we all love .. because that's what we all have in common .. we all have the 997S .

come on....
Must have missed the memo that made you the ultimate authority on what style is? .... Your offer sound advice many times but here I am afraid your not accurate. The guy noted he is into the visual over performance so in essence he did the right thing in doing this to a Targa and not a GT3rs? He even conceded that is a "slow driver"....
There are ways to reply to a POST if something is not in ones taste while still showing respect to a fellow Porsche owner, a fellow enthusiast, a fellow forum member... and there are ways to reply that is just being a complete Meatball.... I see many Meatballs these days.... Come on yrralis you have been around a while you know what I referring to... Just aggravates me and its done on many threads here as well as other forums..
For what you ask, cause he likes it..... why can't that be enough?

Whenever someone dramatically makes visible changes it's bound to get comments . If someone loses 100 pounds he's going to hear compliments and even some insults like "are you sick" and this can be seen applied to celebrities about theiir physical appreance .. not just cars.

+1 and +1. Though I don't always agree with Adias, he properly and fairly stated his view, no sarcastic run or drips in my read. And I completely agree with him as well as yrralis.
But as was stated or implied, it's 'horses for courses', and in most cases there is no objective 'better or worse' when mod'ing cars unless and until performance comes in to play. Since that was an expressed non-goal here, it all seems just fine. So very much not for me. But for someone else? Who else can say?
But that brings me to the root of the thread. A post of a car that is well out of the norm with a request for comments (and implicitly) approval. For this forum, many take a deep swallow to pass along an 'atta boy; great job!' so as to avoid offending the OP. For others, they simply can't and shouldn't swallow that deeply and tell their view of the truth, sounding like thoughtless offenders.
All I'm saying is that some people and their cars and tastes are bound to create a hornets nest of comments and responses. Anything less is being polite to the point of untruthful

I don't always agree with Adias but I do think he and I share one philosophy in common being that a Porsche 997S is a very functional car bone stock. It's a car with understated elegance and class .. right out of the box.
My idea of customizing it is to enhance its driving ability . In short adding "go" above "show" . I don't care if people "drool " over my car. In fact I pefer NOT to have the attention . I don't need to affiirm my ego by having people praising my stuff .
When I see 20 inch wheels which alter driving dynamics . ill fitted suspension drop which inhibit cornering ability , tint so dark that one can't see in .. there is a snap judgement . In fact he's happy when people praise it . But making such a dramatic change to the car apprently does get attention and opinions can vary.
My first thought is that looks like a European car turned into a hip hop Porsche
"Look at me. look at me , I got da money, I got da slammed porsche on big wheels " --doesn't do much for me .. even though I wish him the best.. sincerely .. no sarcasm .
We do have the same car but we all are unique in our thoughts.

She was plated yesterday, well she's new to me!
The dealer dropped her off straight to the shop i picked it up today.
KW Variant 3 coilovers (still need to adjust them)
20" Concave Forged with Continental tires
Monday it goes in the Body Shop, GT3 front bumper, CF Techart grill, and Techart side skirts... I'll post pictures when it's done.

Not a fan of such big rims nor the low ride height.. looks all out of place, but to each his own.

I'm one for giving constructive feedback or just an opinion, but not attacking a person or insulting.

This forum is full of thin-skinned, highly sensitive members. Why getting upset over opinion posts? People post, others reply with their opinions, let's move on. This is not a club of likely-minded individuals and it should not be. Give me a break!
