In my recent trip I noticed, more than once when refueling, signs of disapproval (envy)... Only one fellow complimented the car.

I'm being a hater within a hater thread LOL

I drive my C2S today, great day outside, etc. Ok, I need to go to the barbershop for a haircut, so I go there in my porsche and park it in the front lot (first time ever at the barber, as I usually drive my beater for local errands, but was too lazy to go back home and change cars). Btw, I live in a primarily middle-class town.
While I'm getting a haircut, this young guy who's waiting for a haircut yells out loud "Hey, whose porsche is that in the lot?", so, after a few seconds, I mumble "mine". Then he asks "How much did something like that cost?" and I say, with a little laugh, "a lot" (I know, bad answer). Then, that's it, silence in the whole barber shop. Not another word from him or anybody about the car.

So, when I'm done and and paying at the register, I'm thinking to myself "Uh oh, I'm the guy with the Porsche, I better tip well!" So I did. I just felt like I had to... I gave $15 on an $11.95 haircut, lol. Most guys pay $12 ("you
can keep the nickel") or $13 max... Yep, them's the real prices here around Toledo.
Are you kidding me. you feel like you got crushed because you gave a 15 percent tip on a hair cut. I'm pretty sure that's pretty standard. If I were a barber working on tips and you tipped me a dollar, It would be the last time I cut your hair. I guess Im just a good tipper, but my hair cut is 14 dollars and I give a 7 dollar tip every time because the girl does a great job and that 7 dollars will not make a difference in my life but it will in hers.

RANT OVER. I'm sure you are a great guy but remember the guy cutting your hair has bills too.

It's ok someone spit on my car in Irvine this weekend at a busy BJ's restaurant parking lot (Irvine used to be safest city in USA). My gf comes up to open her door and she's like "uh I think someone spit on your car". Just went home quck detailed and didn't lose much sleep over it. S*it happens and I believe in the Karma Police to make amends with the universe

Yeah I forgot, somebody did hock a loogie on my car a couple months ago. I guess you can't escape it. I've noticed in the recession people are angrier.

Nothing but good vibes on the Porsche from people, never had any issue. Hope it stays that way too.

From what the OP stated it seemed like those d-bags were only into one type of car. When you show up w/ a more expensive and exotic car, you probably rubbed them the wrong way. They were too attached to their vehicles and brands because they have nothing else going for them. It's pretty sad to have no sense of worth, so even if you didn't have a Porsche you are still in a much more fortunate situation.

This is why I hate talking about cars w/ a lot of people; there are a lot of people like this and conversations end up being about who's toys are better than whose.

BTW recent article in Road & Track had a comment by Bob Lutz stating the next Corvette would have been mid-engined, if the economy didn't take a dive.

I've been given the bird by a crazy woman on a horse once. I saw her far ahead and purposely slowed down to not freak out her horse when passing... and she flips the bird and yells obscenities.

I see haters every once in a while... usually they are slack, unmotivated losers who are jealous that I drive a Porsche and they drive a POS or take the bus. For me, I probably get more hate than most of you because of my looks. I look young, and some people have asked if "Daddy bought the car for me", which gets me upset because I worked for it and paid every cent of this car with my own earnings.

The bottom line is that these guys were ****** bags who have their phallus too wrapped up in their cars. They likely still live with their mothers to make their payments as well. When they grow up maybe they will own an enthusiast car or two and a house at the same time.
What does gold chairs have to do with owning a Corvette?

You go on to say that "these guys were dbags who have their phallus too wrapped up in their cars" and then go on to say that maybe when they grow up they will own an enthusiast car. Now which do you want.... somebody not so wrapped up in their car or an enthusiast? You're speaking out of both sides of your mouth

A Corvette owner still lives with their mother who makes the payments? They don't own their own home?

With those comments you just made -- it's very clear that you have all the markings of the stereotypical Porsche d0uchebag and would 100% deserve "haters" hating on you.

For the record, you will not find a more enthusiast bunch than the Vette guys.

RANT OVER. I'm sure you are a great guy but remember the guy cutting your hair has bills too.

If you do the math, he gave slightly more than 25% as a tip. If you can't do the math in your head, try a calculator before typing in a rant next time!

______________
25% on a small amount like that would be a good tip, in my own opinion, but not great / extraordinary, as long as the service was good. More is not necessary IMHO, and if the barber has an issue with his bills, he should raise prices, cut expenses, etc.

In the C2 I have received thumbs up from little kids in cars, construction workers and a state trooper! People stop me all the time on the street to comment on the car.
I get mostly positive comments about my car - the older 911 cab. It does stick out, but it's amazing that I get so many positive looks and comments. When asked about the cost, etc, I'm able to say it's not worth that much (heck, it's for sale for $16k right now) so that's a bit disarming. I'm not sure how it will go when I sell that and start driving the 997 around, though. In my 11 years of owning this car, and over 100k miles put on it - to the airport, Target, Publix, mall, bars, concerts, etc, the thing that sticks out the most is the respect this car has received. Not one ding, no spit, etc. Some bird poop - sure, but who can blame them? I honestly think that most people recognize a nice car and that says something about humanity, too, I suppose.

I rarely get drama over my cars. I've got quite a few compliments from motorcyclists, stares from kids, and so far not a single negative comment.

Hopefully it'll stay that way. I appreciate other people's ability to choose what they want (hopped-up Hondas, big-fendered BMWs, Crown-vic with a wing), they should respect my choice.
