Looking for Soundproofing advice for 997.2
My 09' C2 is my DD and I like the noisiness around town. It reminds you of what your driving. But I wish I could get the car a little quieter on the highway.
The engine noise is fine (although 4k rpms at 100mph seems a bit high - I'ver heard the PDK's 7th gear makes a big difference here). It's the constant tire growl that's a bit tiring on a long trip. It effects conversation in the car and also on the handsfree. I've got the 19s with pilot sport 2s which I'm told are quiet tires relative to alternative brands.
I thought for sure someone would make a wheel well kit with fiber or something that you just tack into the well?? I DO NOT want to remove anything in the interior, save for maybe -- maybe the doors.
I had also read somewhere that the noise all the stones make hitting the bottom of the car would be quieted significantly by some sound insulation?
I've looked but all I find are people putting dynamat in the interior.
Has anyone seen anything for the wheel wells or other parts of the car other than the interior?
Thanks,
David

I know the feeling, I solved my problem with central muffler delete and aftermarket exhaust. No annoying tire sound anymore, just the engine music.
I have seen people taking the carpet out and covering with dynamat, doing the same for the doors. The results a feeble at best. Not to mention the potential crappy finishing once they put it back and the nasty bill.
Your tires are probably one of the quietest. I know that the Asia spec mufflers are quieter, perhaps they have different sound proofing as well?

There really isn't anything that can be done except for maybe avoiding concrete highways and road and bridge expansion joints. The noise seems to be much less on asphalt. I guess if it is your DD then this is nearly impossible.
