Okay, back in the game. Update w/video 5/17/10

After a brief absence from the Porsche scene, and no more business partner, I am looking to get back into another Porsche. I like the Carrera with the factory aero kit. Below is one I have found not to far away. Check it out and let me know your thoughts.

Okay, here's the car I chose and a small video to go with it....
(it's my brother taking it for a spin BTW-1st time driving a P-Car)

Hey,
I am not that convinced by this car.

Except the Sport Chrono and the Aerokit - just a base 911 with low mileage - a replaceable car. If you really want a Aerokit, this might be the car for you. If not I would look on. Perhaps also consider a 2006/7 Carrera S for that price or even a 997.2, which begin in the high 60's.

If you are willing to spend some amount in the 60s, I think you can find a better car than that -- perhaps an C2S with mods. In fact, just looking on Rennlist for 2 seconds I found this 06 C2S with a GT3 kit on it for 59k. May not be exatly what you are looking for but just one example...

Hey, I totally agree with you guys, and that's why I am asking for opinions. I was originally going to get into a TT but for the money I Have to spend, I would be back in the 996 range which is not where I want to go.

So, are the 997.2 3.8lts or still the 3.6?

It's a pretty car but with 20K miles on an 08 base car the bulk of that 62K is going into that CPO and expensive aerokit. My advice is to either get an older CPO 997 "S" model car and add the aerokit with time OR a new car . You can always add an aerokit but the 3.8 engine vs the 3.6 will remain the same from day one.

That's what I was thinking. Man, I found a 06' 997 "S" with the 3.8lt just like this one last week and it was sold the day before I found it.

The great thing is that I got nothing but time to look....

C2 / C4 997.2 are the 3.6L
C2S / C4S 997.2 are the 3.8L
but the 997.2 all have DFI - better HP than 997.1 with equivalent displacement...

Btw: To add the Aerokit with OEM parts, you have to pay 5.000 $ for the parts + paint and install.

There are anyway nicer (cheaper) parts available....

Yep DFI is Direct Fuel Injection

The 997.2 is so much more car than the earlier numbers. I had a '07 C2S and now have a '09 and I couldn't believe the improvement over the previous Carrera. Just my 2 cents.

Okay, found this one today in my backyard just like the last time I looked. Never thought of doing the craigs list thing and found it this afternoon. Best part is that he was 30 minutes away and the owner lived in my brothers neighborhood. So, give me your thoughts. I am not really concerned about the extra horsepower the "S" carries as I am the Aero Kit and low miles. Took it for a spin and was higly impressed. Even has the PSE which was a must for me.....Asking price is $42k.....

2005 911 w/Factory Aero Kit. 6speed, PSE, Clear Bra, Custom Wheels,
27K miles
2nd owner bought from our local Porsche Dealer.
Maintained by same mechanic that worked on mine.
Clean Carfax report.

Here are some pics I took today.....

I think its a great price....if you buy try to get a warranty and enjoy...i love the aerokit....

I have an 05 base and have tracked it and its a great car...the S is nice but really not necessary... on the track or on the street driver skill makes up for the 30 horses...

good luck

Thanks for the positive reply. It does have a 4 year warranty with it that I can buy or just get my own. Haven't been given the details on that yet. I know the first thing I will probably do is get a little closer to the ground. Not used to seeing all of that space in the well wheels........

I am in ATL and near Hennessy and can check it out for you if you like. However, I've never bought at Hennessy. I'd like to, but they've always been overpriced and don't seem to care or suffer as a result. I service my cars there, and love them, but unless I bought new, I'd not buy used there when there are other cars used available at much more attractive prices.
