Okay, back in the game. What do you think?
No, I am good for now and really appreciate your offer. I am basically getting the same car with better options and accessories, IMO, than what they can offer. Plus I dread dealing with dealers.
When I asked the sales guy if he could bring the car to the airport I was gonna fly to, he asked for me to call him just in case they sold the car over the weekend. Not so sure that was gonna be an issue....

The car look beautiful --clean and well kept in appearance.
The snags I see are that the 05 model cars are the one 997S which have revealed the most problems with IMS and RMS . Out of warranty it coild get very expensive and even if you have warranty (extended) it could be a time consuming headache.
In short --you are rolling the dice and I prefer a sure thing.
My suggestion is to at least begin with 06 cars and up . I don't know why the aerokit is so important but if it is keep in mind that you can get one anytime but finding the right car is a 1 time event.

For me personally, the Aero Kit makes the car. It's much easier to buy a car with one already on it. That way I don't have to dick around with getting everything painted.
I am thinking that a 2005 with only 27k miles for $42k is a good deal. The retail value in NADA is $49k not including the Aero Kit as an Accessory.
The car that Christian just sent me is an absolute beat!. I just try my best to stay away from dealers. They got bills to pay and employee's, and that will always be hidden in the car price. Not that I don't like them, but I am in the wholesale business and know how things are marked up. It's the nature of the beast.
As far as cost could be, I own 2 airplanes so there's not too much that can surprise me and I cross my fingers and knock on wood that nothing ever will. But if it did, it would not be the first time. I am just hoping that my next 911 will be as nice as my last one I just sold. 2 years and not one shop visit. And I drove like I stole it....

I'm not arguing the price . the year --2005 -- did have some problems and even with warranty time can add up and without it the expense can be huge (engine replacement related to IMS).
Getting an aerokit painted is a big nothing. It's that common to any Porsche shop. I have a full Techart aerokit on my turbo and it was an effortless event .
I don't know what car Christian sent you so I can't comment . What I did read him mention is a guy named "Dustin" . Even though I have never bought a car from Dustin I do recall that when I first came to 6speed he posted here and the forum members liked him , respected his honesty, and were happy with the cars they bought from him. This is not common with used car sales people so I did notice . I simply already had a car and bought another Porsche new as well.

Nice . I just looked at the website . Is he at the dealership in Memphis ? If I recall.
I looked ... they have three really nice cars listed . I like the car you are looking at . They also have a Turbo --Yikes!!!
They also have an 09 leftover --in cream white /cocoa .
Can't go wrong with any of thse cars.
They cost more than 42K though but there's a lot more car to them too .
I think the 08 if you can get it in the low 60's would be my pick given all the cars and the price ranges.

Now it is true that both the economy was weak at that time and the 08 leftovers had huge incentives . It is also true that the aerokit cars pull a premiium because it is an expensive option.
Bottom line --
Even if the 08 car is a cherry it was titled and is a used car .
2011 is not too far away.
Low 60's ought to be a great offer --check in hand ready to buy.
I am not a new car buyer off the lot kinda person. So the 2011 would be out of the question. I talked with my buddy that serviced the car I am looking at and all the news was good. Now I am just waiting for the seller to call or email me back. Kinda strange to not hear back after driving it yesterday and just asking for the CarFax Report and maintenance history.
Anyway, I am gonna still keep a looking...The 2008 is sparking some interest

All good to go. Car passed all test and buying tomorrow...Thanks to you all. Bank did an on-site appraisal of around $52k for the car. Not too bad to get it for $10k less....
Great news. All the best. IMHO the 05 at the price you got is a great deal.
