Video Is this for real or is it total BS?

Spotted this one on youtube and didnt know how many of you 997 pdk owners had seen it. I personally see all Best motoring flicks as Japanese slapstick but this one has probably gone too far with having the PDK 911 being slaughtered in this fashion. Just wanted your thoughts on whether you think this is a fair result or just totall BS. Please vote and feel free to let it rip . Here is the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-WRE6YuDzs enjoy!!

The 911 driver was too timid to pass the 370z, you can see him end up way behind the z coming out of several corners obviously due either hot ******* or the z driver blocking him. Not to mention this is Japanese TV and they had to cheat for the glory of 'Ol JDM.

TOTAL BS. and 370z's overheat immediately on a track. 911 would crush the competition.

Completely feasible... I would not call that a slaughter. I don't think the base Carrera brakes are up to heavy track duty.

Considering the 997 started last, and finished 3rd, he had the best "best lap time" and best "TA" lap time, and he wasn't driving very aggressively, I would say the Carrera did OK.

How much experience do these drivers have? just because they have a fancy race suit, doesn't mean they can drive.

Obviously they rigged the race. If you pay attention at the start, the Carrera quickly moves past the 370Z. However, after the cut, the 911 ends up behind the 370 going into turn 1. They obviously didn't want to slaughter the JDM cars, so they kept the Carrera back a bit to make it more interesting. Add to that the numerous missed opportunities to pass and the end result starts making more sense. Lame "race" IMHO.

The Cayman S won and that is what I expected from the start.

I don't know.

I simply lack the patience to watch these types of videos with split screen and constantly shifting focus . If I am going to watch 8 minutes of a track video it has to be filmed from one car cabin or i shut off the film.

The starting positions of the cars make a huge difference in the final outcome. That is why in professional racing drivers work very hard during qualifying to get good position in the grid!

The TA times say a lot about the car's ultimate speed in a isolated environment. In a race the driver's skills play the most important part about the outcome which is why the after-race comments by the drivers are very good to listen to. Unfortunately it's all in Japanese so we can't hear those comments!

What also is important is how a car behaves during racing 'competitively'. It's how a car reacts to being asked to change directions against momentum, shifting weight balances, engine power delivery, etc.

For the Carrera C2, it doesn't have a limited-slip differential. That means exit power traction is limited. Correct me if I'm wrong, doesn't the 370Z have it standard? As well as the Cayman S? (I think it's an option actually).

So I think after watching that video (briefly), that it is all possible. Also the fact that as widely known (and funded) BM is, they don't like to bust-up press cars; especially when the C2 was the most expensive machine there.

I've seen one of the BM drivers, Gan-san, go helter-skelter on ANY car... seriously, that man is insane! Even the other BM drivers call him nuts; the dude has NO fear, attacking corners with other drivers as if it was the last corner of a race.

Btw, I own a 997.2 C2 base model.
