Can the trunk button be re-purposed? Maybe with the Smart top mod? I'd like to have a lock and an unlock button, vs a lock/unlock and a hood release button.

I just got my 997.1 C2S Coupe and it's the first remote I've ever had that does not have separate buttons for lock and unlock. I'm used to pressing either button multiple times for various reasons -
- some remotes I've had will unlock the driver door with the first press and the rest of the dorrs with a second press of the button
- I hit the lock multiple times and watch for the lights to flash, maybe due to a neurosis

With the 997, I hit that same button multiple times from habit and get confused as to whether it's locked or unlocked. I really don't need a hood release button on the remote.

Let me know if you think the mods4cars think will help. I guess the lock beep would be better than what I've got now.

To make sure mine is locked I push the key fob button as soon as I close the door. That way I hear it lock.

It doesn't allow you to reprogram buttons, all the different mods are listed on the website.

I don't think they will be able to re-assign the button, but you can always ask them from the "Contact Us" on their web site. I just sent them an email today asking if their box can also have a function to move the seat back a few inches to exit the car.

Why not just program another seat position and press that when you stop?

Thats how I'm doing it now. Thanks. My problem is not on exit, but getting in. I programmed my key a few inches back and when I get in just hit the other button to get back into the correct position. I was starting to scrape the seat bolster with my wallet. I love my car, but I guess its the spoiled part of me that expects a 100k+ car to be up to date with comfort features. I don't expect weight adding features like automatic door closers, but software stuff yes. The lights don't even have an auto mode. PLEASE!

That I think is due to one of two excuses/reasons, some of these luxury options add weight, and the Germans are not early adopters of electrical gadgets and options. I have the auto seat thing on my Touareg and hate it, I have it switched off.

Yes I know, but some of this stuff is basic 123. My wife's Infiniti has it, its great for me. I have had 3 other cars and all had it for some time now. I understand, don't get me wrong. Its a Porsche and we have to live with it. Performance Trumps Comfort. Its just me being me and my logic saying 100K and I have to remember to shut off the head light switch!

BTW - Have one update: I had asked the Mods4cars guys if they can add a feature to move the seat back. As usual, they answered very quick (Nice Tech Support).
FYI - It can not be done. I had to do with th fact that "Memory Seats can not be controlled from the CAN bus". Just a quick FYI.

thanks for the update, at least they offered you an answer. I agree that for the money it is lacking a few things that should be there.

Honestly, I think I'm more neurotic/OCD/short_attention_span/early_alzheimers/etc than the rest of the population.

I lock it as soon as I get out too. Then 10 steps further, I forget if I locked it (probably bc of above 'issues' or bc I'm on_the_phone/multitasking as I exit the car. With the current/past cars, I just hit the lock button again for confirmation. Really - there's no help for me. I'll just buy the chirpy thing and I'll be fine. Thanks for offering the tip, though -

I think this can be a completely different thread: What simple options do you think Porsche should offer in the 911?

Going to do one now.
