997.1 c2s or clk63 bs
Any manufacturer can produce crazy HP and torque with a 6.1 L motor and a price tag of $135,000.
The fact that the Porsche does what it does while using a boxer 6 motor displacing 3.6 or 3.8L, while also delivering gas mileage that makes one feel like a responsible citizen, that is the art of the Porsche.

I've had a CLK55 and a C55 and loved them both. At times, when I need space and a more quiet environment when on longer trips, I'd prefer one of them to my Porsche. But for my normal day to day running around I love the Porsche just a little bit more. I don't know what mileage one might get on a CLK 63 bs, but my 55's gave me better mileage than my C2S cab.
Dead serious about the gas mileage argument. There are lots of cool cars out there with V8's and V10's including V8 Vantage, M6, etc, but they are all gas hogs. I love the combo of performance and mileage the Porsche offers - currently average about 23 mpg w .1 C2 Cab.
I'd like to think that at least a fair amount of P car owners share my concerns.

However it is foolish to dismiss the BS as a miss. It is clearly not. As for the price? The market will take care of that, hence... 2nd hand bargain.
Wow. High praise. Maybe I should check one out.
It bugs me that there is no true MT available in any of Mercedes' AMG offerings, so I guess I have a tendency to write them off as a true performance vehicle.

BS is this even a question really? The rarity and presence of the BS is very hard to beat besides the fact that it performs on a whole level above a 997.1 C2S. Nothing against Porsche and I am sure if we were talking about a 997.1 GT3 or 997.1 TT the argument may be different but in this case BS all day long!
I understand some concern for gas mileage but at this point why pick the lesser car for gas mileage concerns? I am sure with some hypermiling practice you can coax the BS into the an at least agreeable gas mileage bracket!
And to dismiss the M156 V8 because of its displacement borders on lunacy, they don't make engines much better than that. A big V8 with snappy off the line torque, hard hitting midrange and a 7200 rpm crescendo is the stuff that dreams are made of! And that does not take into account the exhaust which sounds like Satan gargling next to a Top Fuel dragster!
