Noobie - about to buy a '07 997 C4S - Q's

Just to start off - This is my first porsche. I recently had a BMW 650 totaled. I decided to upgrade to the the 997 C4S. I found an '07 at a BMW dealer (go figure) in Houston. I have checked the Carfax and had the local dealer do a VIN check and the car seems perfect. It only has a little over 14K miles. I keep hearing about a DME. Is this something that the BMW dealer can do? I am in OR and the car is in TX (sight unseen), but it still has a year left on the original warranty. Is $60K a good price?

Been out of the market to long to tell you if the price is good, but get a PPI and DME done at a Porsche dealership in Houston if possible.

Good to see another Oregonian here on the 6. Around Portland?

I'm actually just over the bridge in Camas. Thanks for the advice. I am sure this is a stupid question, but what is a PPI and a DME?

PPI is a Pre Purchase Inspection. Done at a Porsche dealership. Will run you about $250 - $300. Basically a very thorough inspection of the car with a detailed report. Similar to what they would do if they were to CPO the car. DME scan is a scan of the engine to see if the car had ever been over reved/abused.

Just moved from Houston 9 mos ago. I bought my 997 about 3 mos ago. 60k seems like a good deal given the years, model and miles. If you can talk them down just under 60k I would jump on it.

If you haven't done a deal yet and would look as far as NY, I'm puting out feelers for mine. Looking for the same price, it has 27k miles, but perhaps more equipment.

i have already worked out the deal. The car has Nav, Sport Chrono, Turbo Wheels, Cear Bra, Full leather, heated Seats, Power Seats w/ Mem, and I just had them tint the vehicle while I was negotiating. It is also a Carrera 4S, yours looks like just an S. Besides I really want Black on Black.

Joe is correct on the PPi and DME . Have this done by a Porsche dealership of yoir choice in their area . Here's a good thread on how to understand DME. See page 2 https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...-over-rev.html

i live in Houston so i may be able to stop and have a look at the car for you. PM me and maybe I can take a couple pics of it. Also one of the dealers, Momentum owns the BMW and Porsche dealership here. Get the PPI before purchasing it if just to have the history on it.

Thanks BoxterG - I can't PM since I am too new and I don't have enough posts yet. Not sure if I can post this but the car is located at - 1305 Gray St. in Houston TX. It is a BMW Dealership. That should help. THe car's VIN came up clean through my local dealer. The only service was a recall.
