I finally get a call from a collection agancy, and I am surprised, that this has gone so long with out hearing from them. I call Dell and talk to a guy in the accounting department (he was a total A hole), he tells me that he tried to call a person on and off for the 3 years with no call backs. I said the person you are looking for left the company left the company 2 weeks after the computer arrived, why didn't you ask for someone else? He responded, I don't know, so will you pay the bill. I asked, what about the guy at the collections aganecy that actually called the right guy, he said that it was too bad for him. I replied, I will call you back. I called the collections guy and told him what the Dell guy said, he told me that if I offered him 50 cents on the dollar, that he would accept that and close the file with out any issue with my companies credit history. I told him it was a done deal.

The icing on the cake, was when I called the guy at Dell and told him I settled it with the credit guy, and that I only paid 50 cents on the dollar....that was one pissed guy!

Sorry to hear about your bad day, and I agree that the Porsche will always put a smile on my face.
I called UPS directly, told them I won't deal with collection agencies, and told them if they wanted the money i'd pay them directly. I know i'd get a better deal with the collection agency, but there's something about paying this to a collection agency which doesn't sit right with me. Anyways I paid UPS directly now, and when the collection agency called again today i gave them a reference number and told them to call UPS

What i'm wondering is if they sent a collection agency after the other guy too to see who'd pay first

I can understand your reasoning!

I am sure that they will try and double up if they can.
