!!! Clear oily liquid dripping from car !!

Drove my 09 C2s about 100 miles yesterday. Today there is a clear oily liquid dripping from underneath the car just forward of the engine (about inline with the rear brake caliper but about midway left to right under the car).

The liquid has no color and no smell. No it is not water.

No warning lights on the dash and no messages on the message screen.

Any ideas?

The fluid has no color, and no smell, so I don't think it could be either of those.

What color is power steering fluid?

Did you wash the car just before? I had the same under my car after washing her, it was water with a little bit of oil which was washed off the motor...

+1 on water from the A/C usually does feel a bit thicker (oily) than water. Other fluids do smell (to help with the identity).

Here is an update incase anyone else has the same problem in the future.

Had the car flatbeded to the dealer under the warranty road side assistance program.

The truck driver drove the car on the tilted flat bed too far and hit the lower front bumper skid (thin black rubber trim strip at bottom of front bumper). Pulled part of it off and small scratch in painted part of bumper. New part on order.

Drove to the dealer a few hours later and watched the mechanic take the rear under guard off. He quickly found the source of the leak.

Seems the hydraulic line for the clutch came loose at the fitting where the line enters the slave cylinder. So it was brake fluid after all. The same reservoir supplies both the brake and clutch master cylinders.

Parts are on order and car is out of service until Tuesday, entire slave cylinder will be replaced.

Thanks for your input.

Isn't it amazing...as small puddle of unrecongizable liquid found under the car results in body work and repair, new body parts on order, a new clutch slave cylinder, and the car out of service for several days.

You just started Friday the 13th a little early.

My car had a weird "click" as I depressed the clutch pedal, like the pedal itself was rubbing against something plastic. Then it seemed like the plastic thing broke. Took it in. Indeed, a plastic thing on the slave cylinder broke. New slave cylinder. Not exactly a part I was expecting to replace after 25k miles, but at least it was covered under warranty.

I guess it was just bad luck, Friday the 13th and all.

My car only has 2,700 on it. I'm glad it is an easy fix.

Wow -- I had the slave cylinder go in my 02 996 . No fluid but had the "click" that RyeM3 described . After it was fixed it never hard the issue again .

Good luck . They'll fix it . The harderst part is waiting as the parts are on order but its all going to be OK. You'll see.
